THE MOST NEARBY CLOSE

Posted by Karkarov

This game should be the sequel Amnesia deserved. MFP was just bit of a let down sadly.

Posted by Lyfeforce

Well, deep water is kinda like deep space?

Posted by SleepingLesson

Maybe it's space water.

Posted by ripelivejam

seriously, ocean depths really are an untapped setting. also scary as fuck. i always wanted to play that rift game(?) they talked about on the bombcast where you walk into the water with a minimal lightsource and there's this huge creature stalking you (iirc).

Somawhere between the devil and the deep blue sea.

Edited by Pepeman

Ocean is the opposite of space, but also, kinda space. And in Finnish the word "soma" means cute...but that only makes game eerier in my mind.

Sweet. I've been looking forward to a return to Rapture.

Screen doors on submarines? Madness, they said!

Posted by TheManWithNoPlan

I almost wish they would've kept it a secret. Anyways, I'm terrified of the deep sea so this'll probably scare the bejeesus out of me.

Posted by GaspoweR

Shouldn't it be just "much closer"?

You know what, I'm fucking bummed they revealed this in a trailer, if it isn't some kind of an Aprils Fools joke. Seems like a lot of needless work if that is the case, so I'm guessing this is a true reveal.

Posted by geirr

I was like WHAT?!!? NO SPACE NO SALE and then this other emotion kicked in and was like OMG OCEAN HORROR IS RAD HORROR so I guess I'm very much on-board still!

Deep Sea creatures, the vast open space around you, the ocean floor beneath you. I'd say the deep ocean is way more scary than space.

That was the sound of the rug being pulled out from under us, folks. Yup.

SPOILER IN THE TITLE

Posted by chilipeppersman

@geirr: haha i thought that too. this game continues to look better and better! 2015 cant come soon enough, I hope I have a ps4 for this by then.

Posted by Jonny_Anonymous

The deep sea scares the fuck out of me, it's like the only phobia I really have so I can't wait for this.

Fuuuuuck me.

Ocean depths remain my biggest unconquered fear (I tried scuba diving for 5 years but could never get over it for deeper dives). It's just that whole inverse of a fish-out-of-water thing that gets to me so bad.

In other words I'm down for this.

Posted by Molenator85

I can handle deep space horror much better than deep sea horror. This seems like a game designed for me to shit my pants.

Plus it's easier for the... things... to come up from the ocean than come down from space.

Ocean is way more scarier than space. Someone could creep in front of you and you might not notice while in space you can at least see what's in front of you.

Posted by Gantrathor

As someone who is terrified of the ocean and most things living in it, I know what game I won't be playing any time soon (or at all)!

Posted by Icicle7x3

So you're saying the entire game is the water part. Fuck you Frictional.

Edited by yoshisaur

Or maybe for the half the game you're on a spaceship, and then collide with a planet. The game then turns to underwater horror!

Anyway. Looks great!

Terror from the Deep

Posted by AbsolutelyAlmost

Alien: Isolation is all the space horror I think we really need.
I'm down!

Posted by str33tph4rm

This looks great

Posted by awesomeusername

@themanwithnoplan: Thinking about it and you're right. Would've been much more awesome when we found out ourself that we're under the sea fighting the little mermaid.

WHAT A TWIST

Posted by LobotomyKing

is it weird this just reminds me of tht mission from KOTOR where you have to explore the deep sea lab

Posted by SteadyingMeat

Fuuuuuuck that.

I'd take aliens over deep sea monsters any day.

Is m night shyamalan making this game? THE TWIST!

Posted by Itwongo

I've been waiting for an underwater horror game since /v/ concepted ideas for one back in '08

Posted by The_Vein

The machines that think they're people while being totally oblivious to the things going on around them are the still the scariest thing about this game. Forget aliens and deep ones and shit.

Posted by Dasdude

I really wanted to play Amnesia, but now that I've seen this I think I'll wait and play SOMA instead. I feel as though an underwater complex with sentient machines is much less cliche (and maybe much more terrifying) than a haunted manor/castle.

Posted by Elwoodan

What if there is underwater and space sections of the game, like you are in multiple different creepy places.

Posted by MooseyMcMan

I'm way less interested in this game now.

@itwongo: That was my first reaction upon seeing this trailer. What was that thing called? Pressure? This might be even better than space station horror. Unless it is both of them. Frictional is run by crazy geniuses.

Posted by Dagbiker

I was hopping that this game was going to be like Echo Night Beyond, but i never really payed anyattention to it.

Echo night beyond played like silent hill, only with no combat at all, no health bar, only a ''heart beat'' i guess much like a now a day recharging jelly vision, and a lot more running from ghosts until you find the right path.

I am also hoping the twist is that the space ship is crashed under water.

Videogames can't be scary.

BY NEPTUNE'S BEARD! Who would have thought?!

Posted by Gaston

About time we got something a little "Abyss(tm)" alike. I'll be keeping my eyes on this.
