Your First Glimpse of Halo 4

I wanna believe.

Count me in.

The resounding sound-bite that came through there was that "it's still Halo".

Given that the lead designer left a while ago, I'm going to declare with my infinite knowledge that they wouldn't let him step particularly far outwith the bounds that the previous instalments have set.

...also, that trailer music was obnoxious as hell.

With all that in mind, I'm still very much looking forward to this.

The reason Spartans are fighting is because the new threat is humans. Humans are the real monster aliens.

Really sad to see they aren't doing anything drastic with the franchise. Also the staff's enthusiasm over creating a game that will likely be almost exactly like all of it's predecessors is really awkward to watch. In any case, I'll play and enjoy the game, because I'm an idiot.

I can pretty much guarantee that the game is much farther along than what you're speculating. You don't show everything right out of the gate. They need to slowly trickle out more and more detailed stuff between now and launch.

I got a hesitant feeling in watching this. Them talking about doing everything from scratch and making things bigger and better had me thinking "Uh oh, This sounds like Micheal Bay is directing the new Halo game."

...and then when the logo transformed in at the end I had to laugh at myself.

Okay, I'm excited again for Halo.

I remember when this game was a trilogy.

I really , really hate that they are planning on doing persistent weapon upgrades and CODify this game. Part of the fun of Halo has always been everyone has a level playing field of weapons to start, and the mad rush for power weapons. If this changes, my love for Halo has vanished. 

So with a new studio, instead of a fresh take on the franchise all we're getting is a replica of previous Halo games. Great.

Well this looks like it'll be a great new era in Halo, or a sub par game. I don't really see much middle ground, unless all this hype is just that and it's just a prettier version of Halo 3 with a few new tricks.

I'm a huge halo fan, although I'll admit a lot of it is nostalgia, and Frankie having a huge roll kinda scares me. For those of you who don't know, he was in charge of the Halo 3 story and played a roll in the halo 2 story. Each halo had it's own issues story wise: Halo 2 tried to do too much and they ended up taking out a third of the campaign, etc, so I'm not trying to say that Halo 3 was the only problematic one. However, Halo 3 was a very short campaign, that could have been told better. (Not to mention all the terrible lines like Miranda saying "To war!" and Cortana's "The Gravemind, it knows I'm in the system") And ended with Master Chief just floating through space hoping to be rescued (yes I know Legendary ending showed a planet, but that's still not a good place to end. In fact, I would say it's an even worse place to end than even Halo 2).

Anyways I guess I'm just ranting now. Bottom line, this game will either be good or bad, and could possible make or break the future of Halo.

It looks pretty much the same as all the Halo games before. I wanna be pumped but damn, I just can't. I just want to see something different. No, something up to date.

Please don't flame me, this is just me spitballin', but how about some ironsights. The series is good it just seems behind a step or two.

I haven't been playing much Halo in the past few years but this looks like it'll be amazing. At least the music made me feel that way; I feel like I've been tricked!

Ive never been a huge halo guy. I think I played through the first and saw my friends play through 2 and 3. My thoughts?

Cool. I've had some massive vendetta against the Halo world ever since Microsoft bought out Bungie and brought it to the xbox. Why? Because I was sooo so excited to see Halo come out on pc. I even remember the awesome Nvidia commercials they even released to endorsing the video card to sell the game. So I think I've held a grudge ever since!

But my grudge doesn't hold much weight anymore in 2012. So I think its time to give Halo a chance.

Could we not have waited until the next console generation? Jeeze, let a little nostalgia build

@KidA: It's a hard act to follow. The Halo games have a ravid fanbase. 343 are stepping in to take the reigns so for them it's even harder. If they change too much the hardcore fans will turn their backs on it and if they don't change enough people will still complain.

This looks awesome, I'm glad that they are focusing more on sound design. After playing BF3, the Reach guns seem a little weak sounding in comparison.

All the things they said in that video are the same old bullshit lines that any studio gives when pimping a game. "We're really going to flesh out the story and go deeper into the characters," is the most overused line I've heard come out of developers' mouths. I'm sure this game will be comparable to Halo 3 or Reach in terms of story: nothing extraordinarily special, but well done in some respects.

Halo 4 will be new and exciting, and will sound and look like Halo. Oh, and Master Chief.

This seems slightly interesting but why the hell would you change the master chief look. It's fucking iconic.

So what are we shooting this time?

"Unlike any other game"......."cinematic". Looks like Halo to me, shooting Toy Story plastic aliens <shrugs>

Don't know what it is, but the prospect of new Halo always excites me, regardless of my better judgement.

Because his suit has already changed several times already, you just haven't noticed it.

Alright Halo 4, you now have my full attention.

I've enjoyed all Halo campaigns, all of them, let's hope it's another good one. Couldn't car less about multi-player, also, I know this'll probably never happen but, PC version please!

Oh thank god. I couldn't live without a compelling reason why Red fought Blue.

I can kind of see why Ryan Payton left because this is looking like a Halo-ass Halo game. I don't think it will be bad I just think the 343 Industries team is too afraid of screwing it up and thus are going to end up playing it too safe. They could end up in a really bad situation where its not new enough for anyone tired of Halo to care but it changes just enough to alienate Halo purists and thus doesn't find an audience.

On the positive side I do like the talk of bringing some of the extended fiction type stuff into the game because I honestly really like what Eric Nylund brought to the Universe and always thought it was a little bit of a shame that Bungie never tried to work some of it into the sequels.

I'm not a giant Halo fan but this one actually looks really good. It might sound crazy, but it seems like they're really pushing the series in every aspect this time around. In the previous games they have always seemed like minor improvements over the last entry. I hope 343 can breathe some life into it. In particular, the human drama element looks much more believable. Hopefully we'll see a good story here. Though I may not be a huge Halo fan, The Fall of Reach book is a truly fantastic story.
