Wii U Virtual Console and old Wii game support?

Do we know if the Wii U Pro Controller will work with Virtual Console games? How about old Wii games? Or would the old Wii games only work with old Wii peripherals like the Wii Classic Pro Controller? I haven't been able to find any info on those points as the Googlings return way too much with those main search terms.
