So I'm trying to hook up my 360 to my computer screen with my HDMI cables. The video works fine, but since I have no speakers attached to the screen, there's no audio. Anyone have any suggestions?

Could buy some Turtle Beach headphones or splash out on some speakers.

I personally have a Logitech Z-5500 5.1 wired with Optical and it sounds great, I've had it for around 2 years now and I also have Creative Fatal1ty MKII headphones which only cost me £55 and they're good for the price if you have a headphone jack to plug them into.

What other input do you have in your monitor? If you have a VGA connection, I would suggest one of these. Bought mine about 3 years ago and it's still running well on my 360.

EDIT: Oops! Didn't realize it wasn't compatible with the newer HDMI models. I would then just get this

@Spiral_Stars: your PC monitor should have an audio output where you can connect headphones as opposed to speakers you don't have.

May I ask why you doing this instead of hooking it up to a television?  Is your computer screen larger?

I play my 360 on a monitor since I have a shitty TV, pick up one of these. It's got everything you need in the box to use a monitor and a basic set of computer speakers (or headphones, it's that size adapter). No idea on how to do it with HDMI though.

You could just use an AV to stero adapter to get sounds to your pc speakers if you have any.

You have to get the adapter for the 360 that splits the audio and video of the HDMI. Found here.

Unless noted, the HDMI port is an output so it's not possible. If you want to play on your laptop in HD, you would need something like the Spawn Labs HD-720.

@ItsAJackal: I did this for my PS3 since the only HDTV in my house is being used too often for me to play whenever I want. I'd rather play on a 22" monitor in 720p/1080p and sit right next to it than on an SDTV.

@Spiral_Stars: The way I have it is I have an HDMI to DVI cable going from the console to the monitor for video. Then for sound I used regular composite cables but the two audio connectors go through two RCA gender converters to which I connect a stereo female to 2 RCA cable. It works well.

    In other words:
    Video: HMDI to DVI cable
Audio: composite cables > two RCA gender converters > stereo female to 2 RCA cable > speakers/headphones

Couple different ways you can do this.  If you have the official HDMI cable kit from microsoft it comes with an adapter that plugs into the multimedia port on the back for just audio which has RCA audio and digital audio connections on it.  Another option is you can go for the xbox 360 VGA adapter which has audio out (RCA) as well.  Kinda surprised that your monitor does not have audio out on it, you may want to double check.

    Good luck

You can use your average HDMI-cable, and then use a regular Xbox composite cable and take of the grey shell with a screwdriver. That way both the HDMI and composite cable can be in at the same time and you can use the 2 audio outputs on the composite with like a converter.
