Get minecraft instead. You pay once and get all updates.
I think the problem with FortressCraft (ripping of MC aside) is that it doesn't do anything right now, and won't for a while. They plan on making 'patches' but they're really more fully featured versions of the game, and each one that comes out contains the last releases content - therefore, it doesn't make sense to buy it until they put out the final 'patch' that has combat, pvp, building etc.
And like everyone else has said: Just get Minecraft, it will run on almost anything.

So you can just buy the last patch for 80msp and avoid paying for all the other patches.
