So today I received the "special" Halo Reach disc from Microsoft for their Dashboard Update preview program. It's really not anything special as far as I've noticed but I thought it was kind of neat to share. Update: Just installed the game. It installed at 6.7 gbs and OG Reach installed at 6.6. Mind blowing right??? Also, Microsoft seems to be still pro with the Word Art.

I didn't get selected for this one, but oh well. Maybe it was because I was in that previous dashboard update thing they had going on before the Kinect came out.
So, is this beta program like that Xbox Live Labs type of a thing where you can't play anything but Halo Reach, or is it just that they updated the firmware on your console and gave you this free copy of Reach, but you can do pretty much whatever...?
@h83r: Well they are testing a new disc format for the 360 which apparently lets them put another gb on there or so. So they had the update on the disc for me and it updated my firmware to be able to play the game I suppose. But yea I think they just wanted to see if it worked so they sent out the copy of Reach to test it.

The disc won't crash your Xbox. You might have a hiccup during the update's installation (my box actually crashed at one point during the load-up, but got going again after a simple restart), but everything works like normal.
I'm not sure if it's documented everywhere, but I'm pretty sure these discs will function after the tests are over with.

You can do everything you could before. I downloaded the update sometime last week, and have been gaming like I always do. I have yet to receive my new Reach disc.
Got mine today! w00t! Also, sweet word art included. I am on the disc beta, btw. Haven't put it in the box quite yet, not really a Halo fan, but free is free.
