Looks like the entire third area was removed, quest lines replaced, and locations changed in the remake. Probably for budgetary reasons but a little disappointed this won't be a definitive version....

Ah that sucks, good thing the original holds up pretty well.

There are a lot of missing music tracks and substories too.

The only thing I disliked about the original was how the original gave the end boss a gun.

Honestly it's not a huge bummer for me, having never played the original Y2 because I don't have access to that game (as far as I know it didn't get released here). Can understand why people are upset, but the only other option for me is something I'd rather not do when there's assumed to be a purchasable equivalent coming down the road.

Also this version has more Majima karaoke so it's automatically the more historically important version.

Cut content is a shame but I'm honestly having trouble remembering that place so it probably won't bother me much.

As far as i can remember there's not much to that area to begin with. You need to answer a quiz or something like that at the top of the tower in the background and it involves going around asking random people for the answers. And also a cutscene or two. Nothing to get too upset about.

@saft: It’s a bit upsetting they changed the atmosphere and music of such sn integral scene to have it all take place in Sotenbori instead.

Instead of the tone setting jazzy track you get a stab sound Effect that basically ruins the surprised of Kiryu being stabbed.

@panther2103: After seeing how much of an impact it made on the story of the first game I would now say start with Zero, then Kiwami, then so on and so forth.

Okay I'll do that. I just didn't know if playing 0 then Kiwami would feel weird because they were made in such different times (even though Kiwami is remade).

@thechris: Sorry, I mean't that they cut the song from Crazy Ken Band. That's a real shame since it was one of the first cinematic sequences I ever witnessed in a video game. Now it feels like it would be cheapened by the change.

@efesell: Having played it myself I can honestly say that I think the change ruins the scene. The fact that they couldn't be arsed to implement that area in the game, and just slapped an arbitrary area of Sotenbori in instead along with other content, just reeks of a rushed game. It feels like they should have made a samurai spin-off or two before they made another sequel to experiment with the engine first.

Having never played Y2 myself, I will mirror the sentiment that I probably won't care or even notice. Sounds like an area that was fondly remembered for some and a slog for others. Oh, well!

@panther2103: I would start with Yakuza 0. It really is an awesome game. With the Kiwami games, you will have the ability to follow Yakuza timeline in order and on recent gen consoles. Yakuza 3,4,5 are all getting updates and should look decent on PS4. Then Yakuza 6.

I jumped around a bit and I definitely missed the significance of some scenes based on not appreciating the previous involvement between two characters in a scene. Everybody has their own preferred method of how the games should be played sequentially, but if you prefer to see them in order then you are in luck with that option being possible on current gen consoles soon.

Yeah but they've also added a whole lot, I fucking love this game already 40 hours in T_T

I really hope this game gets some representation on GB like 0 !
