When famous novelist Alan Wake goes on vacation with his wife Alice, he has no idea that the idyllic town of Bright Falls will soon be the site of a terrible battle between light and dark that could threaten everything, even Wake's own sanity.
Alan Wake 2 Isn't Alan Wake 2, But Some Other Nebulous Entity
Who wants to bet it's going to be
" I hope we get to shed more light on the matter... "Until E3, I think we are all going to be... Left in the Dark!
Their quote says that only a "slice of our team" has been working on. It can't be something huge. Maybe an episodic re-release of the first game? On PC perhaps? That's something that fits the
Probably a director's cut with some different scenes and scenarios, there's no way these guys could get a new game out as quickly as fall 2011 so it must be re-using a lot from the first game.
I wasn't really that keen on Alan Wake, the combat was dull and repetitive and the story was crap and not good self knowing crap like Max Payne.
Um... maybe they're working on a movie or a series of brief vignettes, similar to Mortal Kombat Legacy. There is a precedent for this, they released an internet mini series to hype the project in the first place.
I'm going to guess that it will have a similar atmosphere and thematic elements, but involve a new character. Whether or not they keep the same sort of gameplay will be beyond me.
Maybe it's a tale of another person who got haunted by the darkness. I don't know.
OR MAYBE, it's this
"four legs, yet only one foot?" err....a dog with a large penis? ....oh you mean the game.....no idea.
" "platforms [...} unconfirmed as of yet"We might see a pc version but I'm leaning towards either Windows phone 7 or the Xbox 720 or whatever they are calling it. Even if they announce it for the pc, we won't see it till 6 months + after the 360 gets it.What the heck? Are they actually going to do a PC version?"
This time, the full game will feature an epilogue and end credit sequence and the upcoming paid DLC will be chapters leading up to the conclusion.
Play through the events of Alan Wake as Alice. What was she doing in the darkness while Alan was out trying to get back to her? Perhaps this game will uncover that.
I imagine they're going to take an episodic approach. Alan Wake's structure was very TV show like, with the main game being split up into six different episodes, and the two DLC packages adding one more each.
Considering they say pricing is unconfirmed, I think it has to be some sort of downloadable product. If it was going to be a retail product it's almost guaranteed to be $60. Considering Alan Wake didn't sell very well, splitting it into smaller, more frequently released chunks seems like the right move.
"They said it wasn't Alan Wake 2. And the situation your describing sounds like a direct sequel. My guess it's going to take place in the same town, maybe even over the same couple of days, but you're going to play as someone we haven't seen yet.
From the way the first game ended I had speculated that the next game would be Alice Wake. That would continue the "A.Wake" theme to the name of the game.
Small team + 1 year of development time + "not a sequel or DLC or anything like that" + "something for new players to enjoy the franchise" = Kinect Derp Derp Demographic dumb down Herp
I'm not too mad since at least this means the franchise hasn't been abandoned. The first game did rack up some satisfying sales numbers in the long run so I guess this is testing if the franchise can sell copies before season two is greenlit.
Still, I'd rather have Alan Wake end with The Writer's ending than to see its potential marred by acute sequeletes.
Alan Wake was my favorite game last year, but it didn't sell worth crap. Microsoft put a lot at stake with the franchise and they aren't going to green light a sequel unless they get some more recognition with the name so.... and alan wake downloadable kinect game. Left hand for flash light, right hand for gun. The casual crowd will eat it up because at this point they'll take anything to get their kinect some actual use, then we'll see a full sequel to wake spring next year, I imagine.
I'm betting that this will be some sort of Live Arcade game, similar to what Capcom did with Dead Rising 2: Case Zero... It will most likely be a 1-4 hour game which allows new players to get a feel for the universe, but also bridge the gap between the first and [inevitable] second games. If it's as good as Case Zero, I will be very interested in picking it up.
