Overview
Jon St. John is an American voice actor. He began putting his voice to good use in 1975 when he was a radio host in North Carolina. During this job, he was tasked with announcing a Top 40 and also served as the radio's DJ. He became unit production manager of many radio stations across the states. He's done work for stations in Norfolk, Virginia, New Orleans, North Carolina, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix and San Diego. He's also served as a TV station staff announcer. After his successful radio carreer, he decided to use his voice to bring some iconic video game characters to life.
His most famous and iconic role is certainly as bad-ass American hero Duke Nukem. St. John has been the voice of Duke since 1996, Duke Nukem 3D being the first time he gave a voice to Duke. Before, Duke was voiced by Joe Siegler and Todd Replogle. When asked about his role as Duke Nukem, he answered this:
Duke is KING! Can you think of any other video game hero with his attitude, destructive force or good looks? I don't think so. I love playing the part of Duke and I'm honored to be associated with such a pop icon.
He has also been the voice of Big the Cat from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. He also owns his own recording company called Jon St. John Productions. The company is based in North County San Diego and specializes in voice overs with a variety of other big name companies including HBO, Nickelodeon, CNN, The Home Depot and BMW. John St. John works with business partner Jodina. The company has its own theme song that can be heard here.
Jon is part of the cover band called Uncle Boogie. It's an 8 member show band that can play anything from rock to disco and does events such as weddings.
