Overview
Monkey D. Dragon is the leader of the Revolutionary Army in the popular manga and anime franchise, One Piece. He is the son of famed marine vice admiral, Monkey D. Garp, and the father of series protagonist, Monkey D Luffy.
Not much is currently known about Dragon. As the leader of the revolutionary army, Dragon's mission is to overthrow the world government. Because of that, the world government has labeled Dragon as the most wanted and dangerous man in the world.
His name seems to be well known and feared throughout the world. When Garp revealed that Dragon was Luffy's father, everyone except Luffy was completely astonished. (Including the Straw Hat crew, Coby, Helmeppo, and various navy soldiers) When that fact was revealed to the world by Sengoku, it drove many people into a panic.
Dragon went to Loguetown to apparently see Luffy off, but ended up saving him from Smoker. For whatever reason, he decided not to reveal himself to Luffy at that moment.
Personality
Unlike his father and son, Dragon is usually seen with very serious demeanor. When Emporio Ivankov was asking Dragon questions of his personal life, Dragon did not wish to discuss it, and told him to drop the matter.
He seems to have some care for his son's well being, as evidenced when he traveled to Loguetown to see Luffy off. He appears to show pride when he sees how much trouble Luffy has cause the World Government.
Dragon has shown compassion to a young Sabo when the world nobles of Goa Kingdom planned to burn down Gray Terminal. He seemed surprised when the boy admitted he was ashamed to be a noble.
Power and abilities
While Dragon's combative abilities have not yet been seen in the series, his status as the revolutionary leader and most dangerous man in the world seem to imply he may be one of the most powerful characters in all of One Piece.
Whenever Dragon is shown, the weather seems to turn inclement, which might suggest Dragon posses and ability to control or at least influence the weather around him.
