2022 GOTY

2022 Looks to be starting strong, will know for sure the end of February assuming games don't get pushed back again.

It was a strong year, yet on the downside highlighted the growing trend of releasing broken games.

All PC list as I don't want to play on last gen consoles any longer and with more games coming to pc haven't bought this gens consoles.

List items

  • I sure have dumped a lot of hours into this. Beat the game then started again wanting to use what I learned from first playthrough. I prefer the story of the original, but this one kept me progressing and playing whereas the original I got bogged down late game tiring of constantly running from endless fast zombies.

  • Was decent, then midway picked up, having fun now. Now feels on par with other good Boderlands releases.

Not sure if it's fair, but moving this down because of the crap DLCs, and my foolish decision to buy gold edition where I paid extra for those. Typical for Borderlands to have 1 crap dlc, not typical for the rest to be the same thing. Far Cry 6 did this as well (but that dlc is decent) where all the dlcs end up being the same premise repeated with different enemies versus each being it's own thing. Really hate this trend.

  • If you want more Elex then this will fit the bill, but instead of improving on Elex it's basically adjacent and a smidge worse. It reuses so much of Elex assets/skills/systems. I think it's difficult to build a sequel building upon original base and not improve it, but they managed it.

With that said I loved Elex so I had a blast in this as it had been long enough since I played Elex I was ready for more. Though the latter section of the game was a real grind fest making it not so fun to complete the campaign.

  • My favorite FromSoft title yet. Still don't really care for their storytelling nor rpg systems - find it all so confusing and get lost. I don't have that problem in other rpgs, turns me off getting deep into this series. Completely recognize and appreciate the depth of this title, it's a masterpiece.

This one is a lot easier than past titles, though I haven't seen a ton of people playing say that dunno why that is. This one you have beetles to recharge flasks, you have killing groups to recharge flasks, you have several seeds to increase flasks, you have multiple paths, fast travel via teleport or horse. My favorite new feature is the excitement of exploration, reminds me of Breath of the Wild with the awesome distant vistas you can go visit.

  • Who knew it would come out on PC? Thanks to PC release with good mouse support I finally was able to beat this game and fully enjoy it, thank you Sony and the studio you purchased to do this fine conversion. Apparently, it's been a success in all ways. I hope to see more PS exclusive games come to PC.

  • Was surprised how fun this title is, watching it, it looks so simple yet playing it that simple yet challenging running around maybe the appeal. It's very addictive. Surprisingly cheap, price got me to try it along with the positive reviews.

  • Had fun rediscovering Overwatch (and that enjoyment has continued to last), very disappointed in regards to them calling this a Sequel with a number 2 on it, very disappointing as a sequel

  • Been waiting for this to hit the pc, took longer than I had imagined. The Persona formula is still fun.

  • Throwing this in here as I've had fun with it and will likely forget it later this year. Hopefully it's a placeholder, only because that means there's some great releases coming. Never heard about this ahead of time and didn't expect much from it, given that criteria it's a solid pixel action game.

  • So much attitude and action, feels like a madmans modern action movie.
