I remember in the early days of the internet seeing an article on a porn chess game where it was like Battle Chess except the pieces would have sex. I think it was a series of Something Awful articles that covered porn games. Can't imagine who that game is for. Who needs to get horny while playing chess?

oh @jeff, I got that Teenage Engineering synth you're talking about (the OP-1 I presume, not the newer OP-Z) back when it was $850 (or maybe $800?) and I love that damn thing. The interface is beautiful, slick, and has tons of personality. A few of it's limitations can be annoying once in awhile (don't let the built-in speaker fool you, I often used headphones or a even a little speaker I could wire to it to be able to hear the bass much better...one time I used that speaker to do weird feedback shit), but most of them are a lot of fun. The hardware is gorgeous and definitely solid/well-built. Learning how it works is super neat, the PDF manual out there is very useful. I'm no great piano player/musician, but I can knock out little melodic ideas on it. The sequencers (used for both synth and drum engines) are very fun to play with too...they even have a semi-useful/kind of insane one that works like an Etch A Sketch.

It sucks they raised it to $1300 when they did a new run or whatever, because they couldn't get the old parts at the same price (I think) and people were selling it second hand for similarly ridiculous prices, because there isn't anything quite like it out there. It's beyond all of those classic Casio toy keyboards, but still more limited than great full-on DAW things like Maschine, Ableton Push, Akai's stuff, etc. It exists in this super neat middle ground.

I definitely recommend their newer device, the OP-Z (cheaper than OP-1's current and original price.) It is not a "sequel" to the OP-1 but it definitely has some nice features and the sound engine to me is mostly more appealing (though technically you could record audio and resample it in the OP-1) and some other details I like. I don't have one of my own yet but my brushes with it have been rad.

I have one of their calculator-sized synths (Pocket Operator, which comes bare-ass but I got a rubber case for it) with the wild Game & Watch-esque displays and those, as you would guess are pretty fun too...maybe you could dip your toes in their world with one of those!

@janman I just got into the Pokemon TCG last week and was so stoked to hear that I am not alone.

I bought the Battle Mind theme deck at Walmart and felt so ashamed of myself that I had to use the self checkout. But then I crushed someone online with it and it felt so good.

@jeff That Teenage Engineering synth you talked about is called the OP-1, and it used to cost $699, but ever since the manufacturer that produces the screen stopped making them, the price and rarity has shot up significantly (also not worth it at all at that price). The OP-Z, while doesn't have a screen, is a way better deal and arguably more fun/capable.

At the 54 min mark, you can clearly tell that Jeff has that special Death Stranding knowledge. I bet he's played it!

I am a HUGE fan of Wrath Unleashed and I've never heard anyone else talk about it.

When Ranking of Fighters first started I put a request in the comments for it. Wasn't sure if it was eligible because it's not a "pure" fighting game but I figure since stuff like Deadliest Warrior is on there it should make it on the list somewhere(near the top preferably lol.)

I'm calling it now: even though Jeff, Brad and Ben all shrugged their shoulders, said "I don't know" and even went so far as to speculate that it might launch with next-gen consoles, they'll STILL say something to the effect of, "Yeah, we knew Death Stranding was coming out this year on the PS4. We had heard rumours." Every friggin time.

I can perfectly recall the smell of my brother's dorm room when I play Mass Effect 1, because I was staying with him over a long weekend while he was in college and played through the game during that time. (I didn't have my own Xbox 360, so at the time it was the first time I had access to it.) It's not a bad smell per se, but definitely a distinct one.

Lower framerates are not cinematic, please stop saying that. Or if you're going to, please specify what "cinematic" means, because those Fatal Blows and fatalities look much, much better and more impactful at 60FPS. They are objectively an improvement over the original release
