OK, I must ask you guys: who wanted basebuilding in Fallout? For me it was always about wandering and getting into trouble.

Just realised today that Fallout 3 and MGS4 also released right next to one another - the "War Never Changes" vs. "War Has Changed" debate rages on once more!

A lot of people did, since there's a million base building mods for previous Fallout games.

Man! I just had an genuine laugh out loud moment. That legendary radroach and the incendiary SMG.

I'm one of them. I haven't watched the QL yet, so I don't know how it's handled. But, I always thought it would be cool to build something grander out of all the garbage I was collecting.

Despite all the flaws and etc, the first 5 minutes made me go "woohoo this is exactly what I wanted!"

Also, I think it is extremly telling, in a positive way for me but maybe not for everyone, that the majority of this QL is just "lets explain/explore stuff as we come too it, and otherwise walk in a random direction and see what we find". Like, you know, how its meant to be played.

This game is gonna consume hundreds of hours of my life.

Do you need Power Armor training in this game? Or do you just kinda... get it?

I think I'm willing to put up with the Bethesda open-world jank one more time. It's still Fallout, and it's still a lil wonky, but there's just so much to do and the scope is massive.

Man, I think I'm just gonna build a moderate PC and connect it to a TV. Seriously, pretty much every console quicklook that is done on consoles has performance-related bullshit and I'm sure they're sticking with this generation for quite a while.

Looks so much better than all the pre release footage of the game.

I don't know why but a lot of this one feels more like a really good Early Access game than anything else. Maybe it's just not for me.

Also, I'm not on some hate bandwagon or anything that you want to call it, but visually this doesn't look good. I know Fallout 3 didn't look good either and visuals aren't the most important thing for this kind of game but, damn, at least Fallout 3 had some more consistent mood, artstyle and post fx.

With all the base building and stuff and Bethesda jank, this is almost like a AAA version of an early-access survival game.

@the_nubster: Remember your character is ex-military so they have presumably already had the training.

Can anyone tell me who has watched it, what does the GB crew think of the game? Do they like it?

@jeff So you have a piece of hardware that has been broken for a long time, yet you have kept using it. So when it breaks and causes issues you blame the hardware, and get mad at the hardware you know is faulty. Maybe replace the faulty hardware instead of having it happen during a quick look. Just saying.

I'm not going to watch this now, given I want to go into the game fresh, but I look forward to watching this in a few days after I've dived in.

I was really hoping for a "Skyrim moment" from this quick look. 14 hours to go!

Yes, they generally like the game aside from the open-world jankiness sprinkling throughout.

Why does everything looks like it was built by hobos in Fallout?

3000 years ago we built the pyramids out of sticks and stones and you are telling me in the future we cant even get some sheets of metal properly alligned?

Looks great, the base building reminds me of Rust and other survival steam games. Put Fallout into just about anything and everything will be just fine.
