Quick Look: The Missing: J. J. Macfield and the Island of Memories

Read Garfield, got excited.

Does this Quick Look involve that bit where she breaks her neck on a wrecking ball and the entire world turns upside down? Because I saw that sequence on a Youtube video and I was like "Jesus Christ, that's horrible, I should put this game on my Steam wishlist".

This game is so good.

Not sure if this is a game for me.

But from a technical standpoint, I am impressed.

If I were going by this QL, good job Swery!

Probably one of the best games I played this year. I hope more of you guys play it.

Also I think this game really cements Swery as a great writer and director. Can't wait to see what The Good Life turns into

The gameplay can be clunky, but the story and subject matter are so amazingly well done that it can very easily be forgiven. Play this damn game through to the end, and please eat all of the donuts.

This has some awkward controls, annoying instant death traps that send you back to checkpoints that are too far away, some really questionable localization, laugh-out-loud cheesy uses of FMV, and is probably one of the 10 best games of the year.

Hooray, happy to see them give this a quicklook. Depending on the day, this is fighting for the number one slot on my list of favorite games this year. Really liked how it all came together in the end.

Been thinking about giving this a shot, but pretty much the first thing I heard about it was a spoiler for what I assume is some late game stuff, and I don´t know if I want to play the entire thing with that in mind the whole time.

Everything about this game's existence makes me uncomfortable.

The getting hurt in order to solve platforming puzzles part of this game reminds me of Wario Land II.

This is such a cool game.
Nobody does box pushing puzzles like Swery does.

Only 14 minutes in, and already Brad's a head of the game.

This has an amazing ending. The Quick Look, I mean. I haven't played the game yet.

The NeverDead sequel we all wanted but never dared dream would come to pass!

Did not expect the comments for this to be so positive. I mean, I love Swery but the trailers didn't draw me in. I've already backed The Good Life, but if the story for this is as good as everyone says I guess I really ought to pick it up.

That murderous baby reminds me of the freaky infant in the first Toy Story.

Did anyone else think right at the beginning the "is anyone there?" sounded like Abby?

For all future Quick Looks they should have to ask Jan what they're messing up. Seems to be the only one with any brains in either crew when it comes to puzzles.

this looks like the least enjoyable videogame i have ever seen

Easily my favorite game this year. Goes places from a narrative standpoint that I didn't expect this medium to go for at least, I dunno, another decade or so. Everyone should play this.

Both characters are lesbians (or, at the very least, women who are dating each other), and that's specifically been acknowledged as such by SWERY. Maybe you shouldn't be so rude, if you're ALSO going to be so wrong!

I'm so glad Jan jumped in with the hint that probably a lot of us watching saw during that puzzle.

this is probably game of the year, play this thing

I love Deadly Premonition & wish Swery all the best but this looks very rough. pushing blocks around on platforms & switch puzzles , pretty awful graphics and mostly nonsensical texts that get saved somewhat by the stickers. I expected the donut boy to give Brad something substantial , but it seems like it just leads to more donuts. Not something you want to backtrack for.

Still, everyone in the comments is very positive about this, so maybe this all goes somewhere. There are just so many 2d puzzle platformers out there that feel good to play and have better puzzles that this game starts 2-0 behind for me.
