The podcast "skipping" error talked about at the beginning of the show has been happening for quite some time now actually, but it's usually just that a few words are skipped here and there, and nothing as crazy as the thing played back here. It usually just sounds like someone jumps ahead in the file a bit.

Aaargh I am BEYOND bored of hearing how awesome VR is, someone just release a product already! Itching to be an early adopter of this stuff.

Vinny, you consummate professional you! I didn't expect any actual podcasts this week and here you are like it was any other week.

That reminds me, I need to mow the lawn this weekend.

As hyped as I am for the VR stuff, I'm crazy so I'll have to wait like a year or something just to hear all the stories of prolong uses of VR and whether people start hallucinating when they take it off. Oh, they just talked about it actually at the 36minute mark.

I still haven't heard of any games with this tech that people actually tried at this E3, maybe I missed something but I've tried to keep up. It sounds neat but where are the games? Where are the experiences I need this for? The waxing poetic about the potential of this stuff is getting a bit old.

I am really enjoying Austin's contributions to Giant Bomb, and I am definitely enjoying every installment of the Giant Beastcast.

I will say, with no disrespect to Austin intended, that I would enjoy a little more conversation between all of the podcast members. It is the back-and-forth conversation that makes some podcasts so enjoyable.

I think they should just upload the garbled episode as premium content. The snippet was amazing.

Not one VR thing they've talked about has sounded like a big meaty game that everyone needs to play. Definitely not gonna buy one of these things if it's 95% little demos that of course are gonna show well when you're moving from kiosk to kiosk but if you actually had that game in your house you'd play like twice before the novelty wore off.

Had to stop this one about halfway through folks. Sorry, nothing against the cast, but I just don't care about VR/AR at all. Maybe it will be great, maybe it won't, but I've heard this same kind of support for tech before: It was called 3D and it was a waste of time in any device they shoved it into.

I made it my mission to stay the hell away from dark rooms as much as possible.

I find myself tuning out of VR jerk fests these days. I'd rather hear more about games.

Edit: I'm pretty sure "VR Jerk Fest" will become a thing one these days. THE FUTURE

Like they say, never aim a thumbdrive at something you're not willing to destroy. Why not try running something like a Zoom mic as a backup? 2 is 1, 1 is none and all that. You guys record video like 3 different ways, I'm always surprised when audio stuff gets lost.

@rangers517: definitely nothing like that here. I think all of us are just shocked and excited that the stuff seems to work. It all sounds even more gimmicky than 3D but after this E3 the potential seems to be there to bring something new to gaming that I haven't seen since worlds went from sprites to polygons.

I am really happy that everybody is so jazzed about VR, but it still does not transfer through words. People have to see it, and I haven't seen it so its hard to get excited.

Yeah, some of it definitely sounds really cool. I just wonder if it'll be able to get an install base with the games they have now to be able to then make bigger experiences like a Fallout 4 built from the ground up for VR. I guess that's when I'll be paying more attention to it.

edit :Also, great job with E3 this year, Vinny! It was a fun ride.

haha after all the VR talk the quick video game mentions at the end almost sounds like "The last traditional video games ever made before our matrix nightmare future envelops us are really gonna make someone happy, hooray!"

Great show, thanks for finding the time to fit it in (and find Jeff to join). I legitimately thought the start of that Lootcrate ad was you introducing a discussion about The Division at first.

@rangers517: I think the point the guys were trying to make is that games would be only a subset of what VR will likely be. I think it's extremely exciting and encouraging that the most jaded of people possible, who have seen all the gimmicks, and play and report on games all day every day, are that excited about the demo Dan and Palmer tried, which, if it were a standard flat screen game, would be the most boring thing ever - but in VR is a valid experience.

All great podcasts have a lost episode.

Hearing about messed up video or audio bums me out. All that effort and conversing, all gone to waste. That said, I enjoyed this one!

I really don't understand the framing of vr of escaping necessarily a "shitty life". VR could lead to extraordinary unreal experiences (think of when Vinny said: "you could be a giant interacting with another one of a minimal size"), why you would seek escapism and fantasies of this magnitude only if you're unhappy? I don't like how some people are starting to set this kind of narrative

I should know who the character is on the cassette. Hey Shodan, you got to learn to share. I'm confidant that will come easy...

I just have to say, this episode was one of the best podcasts I've ever listened to: full stop.
