@ConciseCabbage: I'm pretty sure it will. That's what they did with the Final Fantasy MMO, I believe.
 
This game is lookin pretty good (from an artistic perspective). The thing that makes me like MMO's is the community, UI, and amount of mad lootz/character customization. Hopefully it'll be good.

@Pie: The server is made up of shards so there are multiple servers for each zone. They close and open with the amount of players online. Also its a world server so everyone plays together regardless of country.

@Pie: No...where did you hear that? It's an MMO, big servers, think WoW, CoH, etc.. 
 
As for the 360 version, it's coming down the road, and yes it actually is coming, as the game is so much fun to play with a gamepad(360 controller), and it was made with that in mind, non stop action and MMO, it's actually a great mix and deserves to be tried by any MMO/action and superhero fan. 
 
The game looks and plays awesome, can't wait for it to come out.

I don't know much about MMO's on the 360 but isn't FFXIII an rpg not an mmo? I though FFXIV Was going to be an MMO but only on the PS3?

Yes, sorry. FF 11 is an MMO, FF 12 is an RPG, FF 13 is and RPG, and FF 14 is an MMO.

No, he's right. I've been in the closed beta since February. It's all one "server", and when you go to go to a different zone, it brings up several "shards" that you can choose from. Different zones have different caps on how many people are allowed in, but from what I've seen they're relatively small numbers.
 
Crisis zones are about 20-25 people, full zones are usually around 100 or so. My numbers could be a bit off though.

Sometimes when I see videos of Champions Online I think, "wow they've really surpassed City of Heroes." Yet at other times (like now) I can't help but think, "oh look it's CoH 2.0 from the makers of CoH 1.0"

So if there's been a closed beta, does that mean the open beta starts soon? At the end of the trailer it says "Apply For Beta Now", but I found no mention of it on their site, other than a link in the FAQ, which led to a missing page.

@Mancannon: There's a big difference between that and having 100 people per server. The need for more than 100 people in your specific zone is pretty redundant, but the fact that that 100 people can and will be different every time shows that more than 100 people will be on a server. A 100 person server is pretty lame and wouldn't make for a good MMO at all. Like CoH, some zones are split into sections to reduce mass lag (a la Dalaran, Shattrath, Org, etc.) They aren't separate servers, just serperate parts of that server. If you don't find what you need you can join the #2 or #3 and so on, which is pretty streamlined and is quick, although the odds of not finding what you need should be slim to none.

@caesius6: Not disagreeing with you, but I'm talking on a "what the player sees" standpoint. There aren't different realms or servers or anything. You log in, and that's that. No server selection. When you go to different zones, you just pick which copy/shard/instance of that zone you want to go in. Each one of those shards has a player cap, and that player cap is pretty small. Ex: I go to one of the transport ships in the Desert, and choose to go to Millennium City. I get a pop up window with all the Millennium City shards up at the moment, and a little counter that tells me how many people are in each shard, how many of those are team mates, how many are members of my supergroup, and how many are friends.
 
City of Heroes does this on rare occasions, but their zone caps are much higher. For instance, it's very rare in City of Heroes to see "Atlas Park 2", because the first Atlas Park hit the zone cap.
 
My only problem is switching shards isn't exactly an easy task in either Champions or City of Heroes. In both games, you need to go to a zone transport, and select a shard, even if it's a shard of the zone you're already in. This is much more prominent in Champions though, since they give each shard a low cap.

@doctorkaneder: The open beta starts on the 17th august, you have to pre-order the game at certian stores (check the CO website) to get a key for it, or if you are a fileplanet subcriber then they have 50,000 keys to give away.

plz don't insult COH like that ^_^ Been playing beta since jan and its not a fun game to play. It suffers from tabula rasa syndrome. The game play is dull and repetitive , even by MMO standards. I will be surprised if this game sticks around for more then a few years.

Hope they up the comic book presentation. One of the reasons why Persona 4 pops so well for me are the unique text bubbles and menus. This game should go all out with the classic comic look for the interface.

way it works is you pay for the monthly fee, but you don't need xbox live gold to play it (at least that's what's assumed).  It's an MMO, and MMOs have monthly fees.

from what i know about superhero mmo's, (city of heroes  / city of villains) i do not think there will be "mad lootz" as your character will only need to wear his costume, which will be created in the character creation screen which i hope will be detailed.
 
i could be completely wrong thou, and your characters costume could be based on the loot you find on enemies or in the world, like your normal mmorpg, i do hope there will be loot thou as skilling up your characters is not enough for me, i want loot in an mmo, but which superhero bases their costume on what they pick up in the world?
