@brad: I did this same thing a few weeks ago, and I find the new drive to be quite noisy, and load times do seem longer.

Never buy Seagate Hard Drives, I hate literally never known anyone that hasn't had a Seagate HDD NOT fail on them.

Did this a few weeks back following the eurogamer guide with the same drive. Works really well.

I have that exact hard drive hooked up to my Xbox One right now. Works great so far, and I've had zero issues with another 500GB Seagate drive I bought several years back as well.

I stuck a hybrid drive in and its been well worth it.

After Brad tweeted that Eurogamer article I did exactly what he described in this video. My PS4 has had 2TB of storage for months for only $80 extra dollars, and it is awesome.

I was under the impression that Seagate made very bad hard drives with disturbingly high rates of failure.

@ironrinn: I know it's tough to find consensus for that kind of thing in tech on the internet, but Seagate is one of the most well known mfr's of hard drives and if you look on Newegg they've always been pretty highly reviewed for years, which probably wouldn't be the case if there were widespread failure issues. Don't know how much of your evidence is anecdotal but you can probably trust the drive.

@spaghet3: Hitachi are probably best they have got crazy reliability in 1 to 2 TB range and Toshiba obtained or joined with Hitachi hard drive part of that company so I would presume there all good too by now.

Seagate can be hit and more miss in last few years, and Western Digital stand in middle neither great or bad.

And I have got Hitachi drives that are around 8 to 4 year range and they are still all working great so I am big fan of there products.
