Overview
William Ford Gibson is an American-Canadian writer of science fiction born on the 17th of March, 1948.
Gibson virtually started the cyberpunk genre with his near-future noir novel Neuromancer. He developed ideas of the Neuromancer in two later novels, Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive. Collectively these are know as the Sprawl trilogy.
He is credited as one of the first to envision cyberspace.
William Gibson wrote:
" Cyberspace. A consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation, by children being taught mathematical concepts... A graphic representation of data abstracted from banks of every computer in the human system. Unthinkable complexity. Lines of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind, clusters and constellations of data. Like city lights, receding. "
Current Video Game Project
On July 28, Gibson announced on Twitter that he had been working with Vancouver-based game company Skunkwerks Kinetic to develop the backstory and universe of upcoming sci-fi game MEG 9: Lost Echoes. On August 13th, the game completed it's Greenlight campaign, and announced that a playable demo will be available at Pax Prime 2015. No release date has been announced.
