This morning Ubisoft went and answered a question I'm sure many of you have been asking, revealing the existence and title of the next installment in the Ghost Recon franchise. It's called Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, and the press release says this sequel is in development at Ubi's Paris studio for a release in Q4. You can jump into an Xbox 360-exclusive multiplayer beta this summer by picking up the next Clancy game, Splinter Cell: Conviction. They call that brand synergy, folks.
Anyway, here's the requisite teaser-that-shows-no-gameplay-whatsoever.
I got extremely comfy using the GRAW acronym colloquially while covering the last two Ghost Recon games, so I have to express some disappointment that this one won't be as easy to refer to in conversation. Grr-fuss? I'm not even sure how you'd say that. To fulfill my very specific need of a more easily spoken title, they could have gone with:
- Ghost Recon Incendiary Ninja
- Ghost Recon Airborne Zebra Encounter
- Ghost Recon Against Violent Youth
Hmm. There's probably a reason I don't work in marketing. Do you have a better title of your own? Or an interest in playing a new Ghost Recon? Let's hear about it.
