Borderlands 2 Is Officially a Thing

I know this is against the popular idea among the hardcore that Borderlands is one of the greatest things ever... But by the time I was finished with that game I was so sick of it that I'll probably never go back to it again. And unless the sequel is far different I'll probably have to pass.

I might get it if my friends get it. We played through the first one and found it way too easy with three people and kinda boring in parts. Hopefully the sequel can remedy some of that.

Customizable characters, please.

@Vendetta: I have very similar feelings. I love that game, but after beating it twice, I just got sick of it and can no longer even fathom playing borderlands again for even one hour.

Hopefully, by next year, I'll have an itch for more Borderlands...

Borderlands is not for everyone. It's kind of like JRPG, there's a devoted audience.

Actually I liked playing Borderlands solo. Something about the lonliness/music, terrain and accomplishment based missions made solo very appealing. I sunk a fukton of hours into Borderlands, did most of the dlc. I also got pretty flatassed bored by the end, so I hope they do think of the sp more(but at least allow for it) and improve other features. I'm into a Borderlands2, but I doubt I could ever play more Border. 1

I want a Heat game I don't care about the post apocalyptic bore.

Well I don't have others to play it with, so what's wrong with me wanting them to improve the experience for single player? I didn't think playing solo was fine and it was immensely boring. If developers will let players play single player, then they also need to take the time to make sure that their game is fun in that mode. If they don't want to support it, then they should just disable all players from playing single player.

Who said they don't want to support it? Supporting a mode, and focusing on a mode are two different things. The focus for Borderlands is multiplayer, so by default it's going to be a better experience in that mode. Left 4 Dead supports single player, but again, to get the most out of that game you have to play it in multiplayer. Unless you're an MMO, you have to have some sort of single player component.

Play with people on Giant Bomb? I'm sure a shit load of us will be playing that game when it eventually comes out.

Great news to wake up to. Best announcement of the year as far as I'm concerned. I've been heavily playing borderlands for the past couple years, and can't wait for the sequel. Looking forward to more info. Until then, back to Borderlands 1 for now.

No thanks. I was tricked into buying the first one and when I started playing it it was an unplayable, broken, and buggy POS. I refuse to give these guys another $60.

Sweet. I just started playing Borderlands this week, and I'm really liking it so far, so this is awesome news.

I am currently cleaning up after an extended squee of excitement over this announcement!!! 

Awesome, Borderlands is endless fun. I was concerned Gearbox's little Duke detour would delay this. Looking forward to what they show at Gamescom.

More Borderlands can only be a good thing. Slightly off-topic but it's weird that Eurogamer had a story that Borderlands 2 would be at Gamescom, which they got from an unnamed source, and a lot of games journalists and even Randy Pitchford were hating on them for it even though it was totally true.

this was one of the better online coop games I found. There was an annoying problem where certain quests were unavailable for some reason when i played with my brother, but overall, we had a great time and sunk many hours into it. The 2 big fixes which are necessary: 1. story, 2. less driving (I'm looking at you General Knox DLC)

Came very close to buying the original for 5 euro... Will definitely buy it this christmas.

This is great news. I have played though the game twice 100% in both times and still feel the urge to go back and play more.

I've played about 50% of Borderlands twice, with different people. They all seem to get bored of it around halfway and stop wanting to play it anymore, which is really frustrating. It was cool, but there's no way in heck I'm gonna play through all that again by myself.

..I'll end up playing co-op with one of my friends when they buy this.

As long as they don't fuck up the PC version as badly as Borderlands then I'm in.

Cant wait for this game. Completed 1000g it on Xbox and Platinum plus all dlc on PS3. Safe to say I played it a lot.

Being a loot whore, Borderlands was a dream. Borderlands II is officially my third most wanted game, after Mass Effect 3 and Half Life Episode 3. Officially official.

I've been waiting for them to finally say it. Can't wait for more Borderlands!
I'm mostly wondering if its still going to be on Pandora and what classes we'll have.

Even though I s-ranked the first game and all its DLC solo (and had a great time doing it), I do wish that they make the solo experience a tad more fun. I'm just scared that they don't realize a lot of people enjoy playing by themselves and focus all their energy into making it a co-op game. Hopefully they can balance it out in making it a great experience for both type of players. Will try to keep my hype low (as best as I can) until we get more info!

Good, one of my favourite games is getting a sequal. There is a God.

I enjoyed the shit out of the first one, but there where a lot of things that could be improved upon. So I'll be looking forward to this one, should be awesome.

Yeah, he does the same on screened and it was cute at first, not so more anymore.

Glad to see they are making a second one. Hopefully this game actually has a story this time or a narrative worth a damn.

I'm not even going to lie. Borderlands was my Game of the Year for 2009. Online was some of the best co-op experiences I've ever had and I actually sunk a lot of time in the single player. Call me a sucker for loot and good gunplay but I had a filling experience with both. In the end it was sort of like playing a toned down MMO... on a private server no one really knew about.
 
Sure the game had a few problems - biggest one to me being that the world was pretty much void of any life. This fact hit especially hard when I played the newest Fallouts. My hope is that they do liven up the world. Have NPCs actually do something, interact with you more than simply sitting there and asking you when the water is back on. 
 
As pumped as I am for Prey 2, the moment the comparison of Red Dead Redemption in space was made, deep down I wanted all that in the next Borderlands. Those randomly generated side missions go a long way.

I'd be more interested in customizable guns than characters, personally.

I know this game could be extremely awesome, but I'm a little scared of what it might turn out to be. If its just more of the same and there isnt drastic improvements to the last one...well than I wont be interested in it.
