Driveclub PS Plus Edition Delayed "Until Further Notice"

Yea, it was a slight misappropriation. More accurately he and Patrick turned that into a joke that, hey, you COULD play the game if you were so inclined. You were just a bad/strange person if you were/did.

While both those games weren't as great as expected, they are still fun games. Watch Dogs, on the other hand, handily deserves the title of "Most Disappointing Game of the Year". Why I ever forced myself to finish the game I will never know. I think it was some strange way of dealing with my buyer's remorse.

For real. This Driveclub shit practically makes that Destiny expansion look good.

@mbradley1992: I hear ya - but I stay away from marketing as much as I possibly can - I like to be as 'least cynical' as possible before I play it. I guess from the perspective of being personally fulfilled, all three of those games didn't do the job, but at the least Destiny wasn't an under-polished/unfinished game.

Why were people hyped about this? The reactions of previews were always Luke warm at absolute best. I remember Alex saying way back when that it's as mediocre as fuck, and it looks like the devs didn't listen.

I played enough to see a trollface, that's long enough to have an informed opinion that it's garbage made by garbage people. Also it ran like fucking shit and didn't even have controller support, they had the audacity to just put "use joy2key" in the menu. I'm glad I just got it in a bundle for a dollar.

Is anyone else really annoyed that all these "sorry, it's still broken" statements continue to insist on calling the game DRIVECLUB in capital letters? At least they had the good sense to drop the hashtag campaign, because twitter probably isn't their friend right now. Anyway, this is straight-up shitty. It's refund time for anyone who bought this, IMO, and the full game, when (or if) it ever happens, should be free for everyone else on PS Plus.

Obviously, Sony doesn't feel too sorry about this or they would have recalled the game from store shelves and removed it from their own online store until the game is fixed. Knowingly selling a defective product that does not fulfill what it offers on the label is borderline illegal in many places. People are understanding if it's a few days following launch that servers are slammed, but this is something else entirely.

I just don't understand how they could have failed at the server infrastructure so badly. It clearly isn't problems with load, but purely deep design flaws.

They could have rolled out a beta based on the ps+ edition to work out the kinks. The game is 1 year late and they clearly had significant portions of the game at fully playable states for many months.

Yeah... fuck this game.

@rongalaxy: Please tell me you're joking. I bought this game at full price digitally and this isn't something I'm just going to sweep under the rug. Held back nearly a year and still comes out broken. This sort of ineptitude doesn't deserve damage control.

When you get a first party title there is a certain amount of polish expected. Or at the very least something that works. Driveclub is an online experience. It was advertised as such. Without that component it is less than half a game. God forbid we should expect something that works at least a few weeks into release. I guess that's just asking too much.

They should just pull the game from shelves, delay it a year and release it when its finished.

@nags: youre misinterpreting my post. I'm saying no one should care whether this dumb ass game gets a free version or not. People who bought it/video game fans in general should definitely be up in arms about the paid version not working properly. These big companies should be held up to a high standard, especially at the prices they expect us to pay.

I would love to know how this stuff keeps happening with them. Are they being underfunded? Or is it some form of incompetence on their own part? Are they just extremely unlucky? What happened in the development of this game, that they have to keep delaying it in some form or another?

@larrydavis: Yo, but seriously though. Don't let a few dumb references put you off what is genuinely an excellent game. Guacamelee's the same thing. I wince at them too, but they're seconds out of a multi-hour experience.

Wait, it's still not playable? I figured this thing came out, had problems and people just kinda forgot about it cause it was pretty ass, as did I. How can you fuck up a launch this badly? It's beautifully tragic in a way, with how much of an incredible fuckin' crash and burn track wreck of a game this is.

I enjoyed Watch Dogs. On the gameplay side they never promised anything it wasn't.

@homelessbird: I agree, but with Guac at least they were all concentrated in a Meme-Hub and I didn't have to worry about stumbling onto any more while out in the world. The most terrifying thing about Binding of Isaac is that I might enter a room and find someone yelling SHOOP DA WHOOP IM FIRIN MAH LAZER and that is scarier than any David Lynch movie. Luckily, that forever alone bullshit wasn't in Meat Boy until after I finished it, so it didn't impact my enjoyment, but it does keep me from recommending it to anyone else.

Most people seem to have been horribly disappointed by Thief, Destiny, and Driveclub, which is really a shame because those are probably my top three games of the year and each of them far exceeded my expectations (I was never planning on caring about online stuff in driveclub or "plot" in thief and destiny).

Honestly would rather PS Plus subscribers just got something else at this point. Its not a huge deal that I did not get this but I pay for this stuff every month with the expectation that I am getting the full lineup.

Yah you'd have to be insane to even compare Destiny and Watch Dogs in terms of disappointment. Watch Dogs was actually a complete open world game with working systems, pretty varied gameplay and regardless of what you thought of it, a complete story - all elements that Destiny "handily" lacks across the board.

Driveclub looks like it might be the winner of "most disastrous launch" of the year.

I'm afraid this kind of stuff is going to become commonplace as we get further into this online heavy phase of gaming. Seems pretty commonplace already actually. Eventually the publishers and developers are just going to write "GAME DONT WORK" as soon as midnight strikes on launch day and count their fat stacks while we all have our dicks and vaginas in our hands.

If releasing games with online heavy functionality is this tough for such strong developers (Rockstar, Maxis, Blizzard, DICE, Evolution, etc) then they obviously need to devise a different way to approach this kind of stuff.

We should just call all games, until proven otherwise, early access.

I've been regretting buying a ps4 at launch but this totally cements those feelings. I probably would have picked up an xbone if not for microsofts always online bullshit they were trying to push. Sony is really dropping the ball, im starting to consider owning both consoles.

This completely surpasses Destiny as most disappointing game of 2014. They're both shitty games, but at least Destiny worked. Right off the bat. This is just pathetic. Give me my money back, Sony.
