Fallout 3: Five Is Enough

Todd Howard closes the book on Fallout 3's downloadable add-ons.

Nothing like a little alien tech to close out an adventure.

I don't think anyone expected that Fallout 3 would go on to spawn five different downloadable episodes after its release last year. I thought hey, maybe two? Two seems like a decent number for that sort of thing. But the list kept stretching out and Bethesda Softworks kept working, up until the release of Mothership Zeta, the fifth--and final--add-on to Fallout 3.

Kotaku's Stephen Totilo spoke with Todd Howard, executive producer of Fallout 3, at QuakeCon last week and it has some interesting insight into the development of the different packs, like the way that alien abduction came up early in the process, but wasn't realized until the very end.

Go give it a read, and realize that shutting the door on Fallout 3 DLC frees up Todd Howard's team for, I don't know, a new Elder Scrolls game or something? Sounds like all the "no plans for TES V" talk out of QuakeCon is getting debunked by Pete Hines over on the official Bethesda blog, so at this point, anything's possible.
