Giant Bomb Is Attending The L.A. Podcast Festival

Tune in this weekend to hear Vinny, Brad, Jeff, and Dan do their thing in front of a live audience. Also: merchandise notes.

No Caption Provided

If you're curious as to why we did Unprofessional Fridays on Thursday instead of today, it's because Jeff, Brad, Dan, and Vinny are all en route to Los Angeles to participate in the L.A. Podcast Festival on Saturday night. Apparently most of the on-site tickets are already sold out, but if you want to tune into the livestream, you can buy a ticket for the event right over here. If you use the code BOMB during checkout, you'll get five bucks off! The GB stream will be taking place from 7 to 9 PM Pacific Time on Saturday night.

The streaming ticket covers not only Giant Bomb, but also everyone else on the schedule, including The Worst Idea Of All Time, Never Not Funny, My Brother, My Brother, And Me, as well as a bunch of other people who also have podcasts that maybe I would know if I listened to podcasts. You can check out the schedules for the event here, here, and here.

In other news, the Vintage Logo Hoodie, the 2015 Crew Poster, the Giant Bomb Mug, and the Giant Bomb Logo Hat should all be in-stock for ordering if you missed them the first time around.

It was fun hearing about Vinny's coin collection and lots of spider chat. Loved seeing it live but felt more like an intimate pax panel rather than a bombcast because of the time constraints. Regardless well done fellas.

Great show! I was front and center live. The stage is... very close to the front row.

I hope they fixed the site. I just saw the list of podcasts there and god, that's a lot of the ones I listen to.

@kinapuff: They finally had everything working around mid-day yesterday. Everything will be archived for a month if you want to catch up on what you missed.

Game of the Generation: Mass Effect 2. Runners up Burnout Paradise and Rock Band 3. I can go with this.

Great show. We got a little preview of the Game of the Year debate in there.

Is this archived anywhere now and will it be behind a paywall too?

The archive will go up behind a paywall over at lapodfest.com next week, and the audio archive will go up on the site a month from now.

Was easily my favourite live show they've done.

I was excited to watch the GB guys and the adventure zone, but still anytime I go to lapodfest I just get a webpage not available or the hosting thing, its a bummer because I would rather watch the video than just have audio but they seem ill prepared to actually host this thing.

edit: reading through here the http instead of https thing works, however still doesnt change the fact that the ones hosting this event still messed this whole thing up.

Edit 2: purchased a streaming ticket, immediate regret as the first thing i wanted to watch apparently isnt being streamed. all 4 streams including the one that was streaming the content i wanted to watch just had promotional videos for last years event loaded up and isnt live. maybe the ear buds preview screening just isnt available to streamers and is only for those attending, but you think that would be reflected on the stream program so you would actually know what you get access to with the streaming ticket. From a consumer perspective the streaming version of this event is literal trashcan, seems like fun at location though.

Hi guys, I'm one of the people helping with the site issues here at the Podfest. Thanks, everybody who purchased livestream access, for hanging in there with us as we worked to fix it up. The Podfest was more popular this year than in previous years, and the site melted on Friday evening as things started to get going. Our original site host wasn't responsive enough to our needs so we moved the site to a new host at great cost and at the last minute (a moose once bit my sister).

One of the remaining issues is that google has indexed the https:// site which no longer is up (don't worry, our 3rd party payment processing system is secure), so people googling are getting that. Go to http://www.lapodfest.com/ . We had some issues on the new host as well, since we weren't able to tune things in much, so we had login performance problems much of yesterday. We worked around those and have been good since Saturday afternoon, and the Bombcast went out without a hitch.

Thanks again for all your patience with our growing pains.

Awesome meeting Dan while waiting for the show to start. I didn't know Paul was a Rush fan. lol

One of the funniest podcasts I have ever listened to and it was right in front of me to experience. I had to skip PAX Prime cause shit hit the fan and had to commit money elsewhere, but the LA Podfest showing was just luck to me and was well worth the hour and a half drive. Thanks for showing up to Southern California, you guys. =]

@jrm: Yeah cause giving some money to people that give us a shitload hours of entertainment for free is really throwing it at anything.

@youngshields: yeah, podcasts are basically my primary form of entertainment these days, but fuck me for wanting to give the people who make them some money, right?

Did they give any reason why we have to wait a month? Indoor kids have theirs up already.
