Hulu Plus on Xbox 360 Free for a Week, Thanks to Beef Jerky

We knew Hulu Plus was coming to Xbox 360, but Microsoft didn't exactly pound the drums before announcing it would launch for everyone on Friday. Eventually, Hulu Plus will only be available for those with both Xbox Live Gold and Hulu Plus subscriptions, but that's not the case for the first week.

Major Nelson, Xbox 360's most visible face to the community, revealed today Jack Link's Beef Jerky would be sponsoring an entire free week of Hulu Plus access for all XBL members--Silver and Gold. 

That's cool, Jack Links, but I don't like beef jerky. I'll take a week of watchin' Cleopatra 2525, though.

Anyone out there have Hulu + AND Netflix?  I have Netflix, and want to cut the cord from cable.  Will Hulu + fill in the programming blanks for me?

@ptc: Not really, but you get used to it. The things I miss are cable channels like Adult Swim and... um... Adult Swim. It really didn't take long.

It's total bullshit the amount of content america gets compared to the rest of the world and we pay round about the same amount for gold memberships but get ripped off on actual console prices they pay $199 we pay £199 which amounts to about $330 and we get less, again, Bullshit!.

I definitely agree that XBL Gold is just no longer worth subscribing to, but in this case, blame Sky for owning the TV rights to the majority of programming, including things they never even intend to broadcast, it makes a service like this literally impossible for the UK.  The most we can have is the BBC iPlayer and 4OD.

I tried to watch a Dr Who preview clip on the BBC website the other day, and I was denied because of my location.
Now I know how the rest of the world feels.   :(

I'm gonna send the staff some real jerky packaged in the tiny town next to our also tiny town very soon. Jack Links jerky should be called Cack Links because it tastes like shit. And those meat tubes (such as Slim Jims) are not jerky, and it is offensive jerky aficionados to think of them as such.

Wow, television for free? What a unique concept. If only someone had thought of this some 75 years ago, huh? Is Hulu access going to be yet another eventual part of the excuse to justify the XBOX Live service fee? I'm happy to pay it, but I don't use any of the bullshit on the service. (Hint: I have a computer and a laptop and a tablet and a phone, so if I need to use twitter or facebook or zune or any of this other bullshit, the last place I'm going to do it is on a game console).

Nice, but I don't care too much.  I doubt I'll look at it this week before time runs out.  I have a backlog of movies and TV shows in my Netflix streaming queue which I've barely made a dent in.

I hope there is a way to disable Kinect support in both this and Netflix in the future. It's slightly annoying to get the WAVE FOR KINECT tip from movement in the room when we are watching content now.
