The whole of the UK has shut down due to snow so my family are having serious bonding time watching old GB videos. Normally on a snow day I’d have a teenager and a preteen with cabin fever.

Will this be on the Enthusiast app for Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV? I watch a LOT of Giant Bomb content on my TV through that app on those devices.

Do we have any official word if the youtube stream link is intended to be premium only? Can I send it to non premium people/tweet it?

Feels like the stream part of this would be a good advert for gb premium, the equivalent to a free rotation of playable characters in a free 2play moba or something.

Would be cool with a text that shows how old each video is. "this aired 7 years, 4 months and 20 days ago"

@vinny I'd be really interested to know how you got this set up, if only to know how you did the random video part. Could you maybe just give me a bullet points and I can go look into the rest please? :) I'm guessing the poll stuff is all super integrated into the site, but what I'm most interested in is how you randomise the video that feeds into OBS. Thanks!!

Suggestion: Have a quick access button for /tv like we have for /chat on the home page please. You can label it as a Beta,! :)

I've really liked this feature. We've seen some bugs where a video starts but then quickly ends before it's finished. Happened twice Sunday the 5th around 6-7pm.

Feature Requests: Would like some "channels" added. The current default with everything is how I'd imagine it'd always default. I'd love it though if I could flip between 1-5 streams of the following nature though, each with its own chatroom.

Channel 1: All videos (current format)

Channel 2: Only Quicklooks

Channel 3: Only UPFs

Channel 4: long videos

Channel 5: short videos

Anyone else having performance issues with this? Playing GBTV, Firefox will ramp up to using 4.5GB of ram on my system, which causes issues seeing as my system only has 6GB total. No other sites do this, other content on this site (i.e., not GBTV videos) do not do this.

Any tips?

I'd like a feature that doesn't allow the same video to show up in polls twice a day. Hitsmas 2017 has been there multiple times, for example, and we had a video show up in the poll while we were watching it. Other than that, this thing rocks!

The new ding noise is slightly too loud compared to the videos.

Also, really need to prevent the same video from coming up... like ever. With 10 years of content seeing the same 3 hour video is a little disappointing.

Other than that I think this thing is perfect. Well done.

@wcarle: A few suggestions, some more serious than others...

• After playing (a couple of) long videos, bias the next selection towards some shorter videos. GB TV is fun, but I need a short video to signal to myself that I can check out to do something.
• This is perhaps a bit too ambitious, but... I want Salty Bucks to bet on what video comes next.
• Ads. Not in the traditional sense of the word, but Giant Bomb has done several really short videos (premium ads, GotY skits, GotY top 10 lists, and so on) that can be injected before / after videos.

Some suggestions, don't know if they're possible:

• Don't include videos from the most recent 8 months;
• Don't let a video show up for voting again if it was played in the last two days;
• If two long videos (over 1 hour) were played in a row, bias the next poll to include smaller videos (under 1 hour);
• To counter these situations meanwhile, allow mods to create a new poll asking if current video should be skipped. If "skip" wins, a new selection of videos can picked.

I think the skip thing is pretty much just going to open up a can of worms that makes the whole thing absolutely miserable, and personally I've seen videos from even the last year win like a grand total of... four or five times, maybe?

I wholeheartedly agree that there should be a way to remove a video from rotation after it gets played for at least a couple days, though.

Random suggestion, it would be awesome to have a time where GB TV streams new videos. Either once a day to stream the new videos for people to watch while chatting or once a week with all the new videos of the week. Once the videos are done it goes back to a normal voting poll style.

I'm no web developer, so not sure how feasible that is, or if it's even worth doing, but after watching older content in this format it made me want to watch the new content like this as well.

Regardless if that's doable, or if it's a dumb idea, I'm way into GB TV so great job!
