Beyond Good & Evil 2 Video Looks Questionable, Incredible
i'll guess we'll just have to wait and see then.
Is this another killzone 2 trailer?
No way it's real, forget about the graphics and the animations, just think about what's going on there. The person was just randomly running around, yet it all worked out for them. If a player was at the control, no way they could find their way through all that and then know exactly when to make that leap of faith at the end. It's just a trailer to generate hype and show the concept.
This is most certainly a hype-machine video, possibly even leaked by people involved with the game on purpose. Or it was meant to be shown at E3 this year. Either way, I'm stoked. I've yet to finish the first game, but love the narration. Some of the gameplay, not so much, but that doesn't mean it's bad or anything.
I like the style... SOrt of like, a subtle TF2 filter of Mirror's Edge, in an Indiana-Jones-esque universe. Also looks a bit too smooth, so I'm guessing not quite... And that helicopter looked like something you'd see in Half Life 2, like it was made from bouys and a mini crane and stuff... Neat.
So what does this have to do with pigs?
There's already a thread going about this, Brad!!! YEESH!!! Can we get a mod to lock this? = P
"too-fluid-to-be-a-game" haha i see that.
There's no doubt in my mind that this is in engine, hell, even gameplay, animations specifically, but the camera has to be the forced/staged part. Oh and the AI around it all.
Looks great...whatever it really is
Is it E3 05 again? That's just a trailer, no way that's gameplay. Hopefully some will be shown at E3 next month.
It could be in-game engine, just a tad tooooo fluid lol. But you see the influence of prince of persia and assas. creed with the bumping into walls and stumbling and stuff. It also kinda reminded me of uncharted 2 trailers and gameplay vids...
I hope they make it as good as the first one story-wise.
Yeah that's defiantly BGAE 2. But it's probably not real gameplay. It's too smooth and artificial looking for it to be real.
I dunno, it looked like it could be in-game footage. In fact, it seemed like a lot of the things they were doing in the vid (bumping into walls, shimmying past the table) looked like it was done deliberately to show off the in-game engine. Call me crazy, but not only do I think it's BGAE2, but I believe it's game footage.
The are using Jade's voice FX from BG&E for the grunting and the crying, and of course the extendy bo staff is a giveaway. Also the vehicle she gets in at the end is sporting Mamago's Jamaican colors so it is mosdef BG&E related. I am super pumped up by this, as I think that game is easily last generation's most underrated game, and one of the best adventure games to come out in the last decade and a half.
That defintely doesn't look like Hillys though.
I wonder how much string cheese I will have to buy to get a copy of this!
If it's actual gameplay, I'm already sold. If it's just a trailer, the direction the game seems to be going is intriguing. Either way, I'll certainly be keeping an eye on BGAE2.
"They need to change the character model or something, looks EXACTLY like Faith."Don't you mean Faith looks exactly like Jade?
shit looks GREAT!!!(but is it gameplay and is it really BG&E)
however it seem similar to mirror edge lol
i thou they're going to change the gameplay from the original
CAN'T WAIT FOR E3
it has to be beyond good & evil
look @ the video Gizmo post
Sheesh, so many stupid people here comparing this to Mirror's Edge and Assassin's Creed, which both came out like 4-5 years after BG&E 1. Ignorant bastards. The first game was all about the story, so stop jumping to conclusions if you've never played the first game.
Though I do have to admit that the supposed new gameplay is much changed from the first game.
Looks very real, and very not real-time. The animations look game-quality, not cutscene quality. It was just the events and the camera movements that made it seem "questionable".
I'd have to say I'm interested. I never really played the first BG&E due to the poor controller and lack of proper widescreen support in the PC version.
I'm not really seeing the Assassin's Creed or Mirror's Edge comparison.... she climbed a building and brushed up against a few walls. I've only been playing games for twenty-five years... but I'm pretty sure those weren't the first two games to incorporate those ideas. The only reason you're thinking of those games is because you just played them a few months ago. I see where you're coming from but, that looked different enough.
I saw helicopters to, so it's exactly like 50 Cent Blood on the Sand. Exactly.
The sequences shows both motion blur artifacts as well as aliasing on the shadows, so unless they deliberately faked it, thats definitively realtime in engine. For in-game it looks to wild to be playable, but then BGE1 did had similar chase sequences, just much slower and not that wild camera movement. So while its unlikely to be normal gameplay, it could be one of those, maybe with QTE mixed in. Who knows. Looks definitvly pretty amazing, but at the same time a little to good to be true.
In theory, this looks good but I'm not sure how the hell they will implement this without trial and error gameplay.
Assasins creed was really innovative, but it didn't change much. It was an OK game, but one in which the character moved so organically that it never seemed like an animation was breaking into another. The gameplay and pacing were only mediocre.
Also, worthy mention is the ninja gaiden series,in which you had to actually perform to make your character move so it worked so much better
HOLY SHIT! YES!!!
I know it can't be actual gameplay... and I know there's been a trailer before...
but, DUDE!! Beyond Good & Evil 2!!!
I'm soooo stoked!
Artemis_D:
The mirror's edge connection comes from the leap of faith at the end. That game is all about jumping off into the blue and hoping there is a building there. ME also had the hopping onto the helicopter thing in the first level. Good game, on steam now for $20!
Target/Concept-footage. :)
But if the final game looks anything close to this, ReTarDedFisHy will be a very happy... erm, fish.

The camera is too crazy for this to be gameplay... it'd be impossible to control your character. It pulls out too far at times, and is far too shaky.
Regardless, if this is in-engine, then OH SNAP I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME.
wow this looks incredible... do i sense another killzone 2 scandal coming on? or this just Ubisoft trying to drum up some hype about a new game... or both?
