I just got an invite to the Bloodborne Alpha Test (which is weird as I don't remember registering for one but i'll take it!).

Anyone other duders got one or is it for everyone on PSN?

I kind of assumed it was past Alpha if they want to release in early 2015.

Also, I bet the "Alpha" is, like most of these things today, kinda not at all what the word alpha used to mean.

I highly doubt that game is in alpha if it comes out in like, fucking February. There's absolutely no way they aren't finished most of the major features by this point if it's actually on track for a February release.

Holy shit, just checked my email, and I got one too! I definitely did not sign up for anything either. Weird.

EDIT: You have to fill out an enrollment form which doesn't guarantee a place on the Alpha test, it says.

EDIT 2: Apparently the "enrollment form" was just a yes/no acceptance of terms. Weird.

Yea got one to never played any of the dark souls games..

Checked my email after reading this and I got one come through. This is slightly annoying considering I don't own a PS4, although I'm really considering buying one since there is a really nice deal on Amazon right now.

Gotta' say, I do appreciate FROM actually testing the networking capabilities of their games. The results were very clear when you compare Dark Souls 1 and 2's multiplayer.

Kind of weird that they wouldn't roll the invites only to people that actually have a PS4 registered in their name. And that you don't even need the email to sign the agreement. Smart play on sony's part in a way, because dedicated souls people will probably go out and buy a PS4 if they get in. Oh well, good luck to all on getting in :)

I don't think I got an invite, which is alright by me. The two beta tests for Dark Souls 2 actually made me almost not buy it at all, even though the full game turned out fine.

I like how they emailed me saying "hey we've chosen you to be part of this alpha test! please fill out this form". then you fill out the form and it says "thanks we'll let you know if you get selected".

I'm probably one of the biggest fan of the Soul's series. Even to go so far as to play through the King's Field series because of them. I cannot believe I missed this alpha test. Ugh.

I'd probably be more mad about not getting an invite if I wasn't completely addicted to Wasteland 2 at the moment.

Perhaps it needs time to sink in.

@corevi: Nah, I don't have stuff like that. I don't really care about it that much, just wondering what their policy with this stuff is these days, with streaming being a built-in feature and all.

The EU alpha starts in around 20 minutes. That's like 3am here in Australia but I'm an idiot so I've stayed up for it.

Just an update: screenshots and streaming are blocked.

Oh, and the game looks incredible, and plays like Dark Souls, except there's no way to block. That's gonna take some time to unlearn.

Yeah, it was pretty sweet. Frame rate is pretty choppy, and im not 100% sure about the interface.

Also the guns seemed pretty useless.

I had a quick look at twitch, some guy is streaming a trojan horse titled Bloodborne that's actually Mortal Kombat. I look forward to this game might be enough reason to finally buy into the current gen, that and the Witcher

@joebigfoot: You can use guns to stagger and "frontstab" some enemies.

Cannot wait, it feels and plays perfectly for the most part.......... FPS on the bridge where the werewolf like enemies were was absolute utter trash! It was so bad that there was input lag. It's an alpha but this is pretty odd considering how well it runs at public events, unless someone explains this to me i'm a bit worried about the FPS for this game now.

FROM haven't said anything about NDA on streaming and sharing, not even on the Japanese side of things, nothing in the fine print so go ahead really. Share-functions were blocked because if it really got out to the masses, a lot of people will think it's representative of the final product, just like how they thought the raw first take voice of Dinklebot in the Destiny alpha was 100% what would be in the final game, and people in general are really freaking stupid.

If they get it at a stable 30fps, maybe cutting down a bit on the sweet-ass blur and putting it on a cleaner DOF-AA, this will be The Shit. This will for many be when the generation truly begins, and what a beautiful game to do it with. File this under games that actually make proper use of the touch-pad of the DS4.

The guns are super useful utilitarian things, bring it out if you have trouble with the boss, hint hint.

So, was there any rhyme or reason to how they picked people for this?

So can we talk about playing it? I didn't read the NDA or whatever when I booted up the alpha. Can't wait for Friday to try it again.
