    Hey Duders,

Im on level 3 of the black ops 3 campaign and for a couple of reasons im just not enjoying it much. Does it pick up much?

    Shooting robots isnt very fun.

I play the COD campaign and enjoy them every year, I even really enjoyed ghosts which I know many hated. This may be the first one since world at war that I dot play through. Ive always disliked treyarchs campaigns the most.

It unfortunately does not pick up, and remains trash throughout its entirety.

It's pretty bad, and in my opinion, it gets worse and worse. The last level was both stupid and a drag. Worst Call of Duty campaign since 3, if you ask me.

Also it has nothing to do with the previous two Black Ops games - except being set in the same fiction, which only manifests in two pointless references.

I'd say it definitely shifts gears half way through (in a good way). I actually enjoyed the campaign a good deal, but I haven't played a CoD game since Modern Warfare. That said, the places this campaign goes feel both exciting and unearned. Exciting in how, on the fringes, there's the outline of a very interesting story here, but unearned in that most of the writing's too brain-dead to care. I really wish I could say that this game transcends the series' reputation as a hackneyed, military shooter (and my perfunctory analysis makes me feel someone on the team wanted that, as well), but somewhere along the line they decided that wasn't going to be the case. There are still some really cool set piece moments, though, and the more surrealist aspects of the campaign stuck with me (even if they horribly lacked subtlety).

The thing about the campaign is it feels more like a Halo campaign (minus the vehicles) than a CoD campaign. There aren't a lot of big set piece moments. There aren't a lot of vehicle or rail shooter sections. Rather, it's more Halo-esque in the size of the combat areas and the positioning and amount of enemies. It was pretty fun, if for nothing else than it's fun lighting dudes on fire. It'll get a little more fun as you unlock more abilities, but it doesn't drastically change in what you're doing throughout.

The story is simultaneously more interesting in subject matter than the typical CoD jingoism, and yet somehow total trash due to some really bad pacing and execution.

I'm on level 4... and I came a conclusion. I think the campaign was made more with the 4 player co-op in mind instead of the singleplayer experience. There are tooooooooooonnnnnnnnnns of enemies for one person, to the point where it kind of feels silly. While shooting things is pretty fun, I feel like a lot of the interesting moments and set pieces from the past campaigns (BO1 in mind) don't exist. Obviously, I haven't beaten it yet so IDK. Does it really not pick up in any way?....

Thanks for the replies guys, played on a bit completed level 3 played through some of 4 skipped to the end mission played 5 mins and then decided it wasn't for me. Checked out zombies briefly not for me. Fortunately the multiplayer still seems good.
