What a tremendous little Game 0

I don't even know what to talk about when it comes to Celeste. The game is a incredible Platformer that tells the story of Madeline, as she has to deal with anxiety and some other problems that you see throughout the game. The main thing I can say is: Just go play this game, unless you don't like platformers, just do yourself a favor and pick this up.The controls are some of the thigest that I've ever seen, the level design is perfect, the pace is great, you'll die a bunch, because the game is r...

    Panic! at the Platforms 0

Celeste is a surprise. Not because it’s a good game, and it is, but because it’s sympathetic with difficult subject matter, and the nature of the game stresses its themes all the more. It’s only scratching Celeste’s surface to say it’s indie precision platforming following in the steps of Super Meat Boy, made by the folks that brought us Towerfall. It is meaty though.Madeline is tired of the status quo, of feeling like she can’t, so she is ready to do somethin...

Why Did You Climb It? Because It's There! 0

From a purely visual point of view, it would be easy to dismiss Celeste as another run of the mill neo-retro indie game. But once you start to play, you'll soon realise that while it does wear its influences on its sleeve, it does something that very few retro games ever did, tell a profound and thought-provoking story.Celeste is a 2D platform game in which players control a girl named Madeline as she makes her way up a mountain while avoiding various deadly obstacles. Along with jumping and cli...

A Truly Special Game. Go play Celeste! 0

(Just a heads up, there are a few minor spoilers in this review that mainly discuss components of the first half of Celeste. If you don't want to see these spoilers, maybe not read this review, but I don't go into many serious details on Celeste's gameplay and story.)Celeste is one of those games that you’d never expect it to be an instant classic. Quite frankly, I never heard of Celeste until I saw the January Nintendo Direct Mini and thought it looked decent, but I never got this sudden ...

Mountain climbing; a sport that's far more fun with moves like Madeline's. 0

I’ve apparently been away from the earlier generations of platformers for too long since my initial approach to Celeste was: ‘An indie platformer is getting all kinds of positive feedback? How good can a game be when you’re just pressing the jump button all the time?’ While there’ll be plenty of jumping, I had forgotten how good games like these can be when they’re designed smartly, control sharply and gives the player incentive for side objectives without ha...

An Impactful Story with Excellent Platforming 0

Among the resurgence of tightly controlled platformers, there have been few games that had an impact in the genre past just pure gameplay. Stories in platformers have been second rate to the game play mechanic. while being fun to play, lack any reasoning to why the player would complete these puzzles or collect these items. The new game developed by Matt Makes Games (the creators of Towerfall), Celeste, chooses to make the story as impactful as the platform gameplay that makes this genre...

Celeste provides a rewarding challenge while telling a story of a character overcoming her personal obstacles 0

Some people nowadays feel an emptiness within them. They work dead end jobs desperately trying to fill that worthlessness. Some crave a challenge from their dull mundane life. What better way to fill that emptiness with a thrill of climbing a mountain?Just an example of the puzzle solving in Celeste Celeste is a towering brute that houses abandoned ruins from old civilization and some magical unknowns that may be better left untouched. The different settings aren't the only thing that strikes a ...
