Created by Stan Lee and Bill Everett (along with unknown input from Jack Kirby, and Frank Miller's portrayal that defined him in the 1980's), Daredevil is a street-level crimefighter known for his high flying acrobatics and his entanglements with NYC's criminal underground including The Hand ninja clan and Wilson Fisk AKA The Kingpin of Crime. In his civilian persona, he is Matt Murdock, a blind defense attorney. Together with his legal partner Franklin "Foggy" Nelson, they run the legal practice Nelson & Murdock.
Overview
Matt Murdock grew up in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan, a part of the city that is controlled by crime and had no signs of returning to a functioning part of society. At age 10, Matt was blinded in a traffic accident involving nuclear waste, and as a result, his remaining senses allow him to perform with super human skill and precision. Later, he is found by Stick, a blind ninja master who teaches him how to hone his chi and sharpen his radar sense. As an adult, hardened by life experiences learned in Hell's Kitchen, he begins cleaning up his city with his red bodysuit and signature weapon, his specially designed baton disguised as a blind man's cane.
Gaming Trivia
An evil doppelganger of the character appears in Capcom's SNES game Marvel Super Heroes in War of the Gems.
Daredevil is seen playing cards along with Spider-Man, Captain America and the Punisher at the end of Activision's original Spider-Man game. (How he saw the cards, we may never know.)
