I loved this game. I put 40 hours into it smashing zombies, looting garbage cans and putting up with all the gllitches, and I was having a good time, but now, 40 hours in the bullshit "check pointing" in this game has fucked me. Im now stuck in a late game plot specific escort mission with no ammo for my guns, low health, no health packs and a swarm of zombies to hold off. This is heartbreaking, I was enjoying this game so much but the lack of a sane save system has ruined this game for me. I wrote this post after 10 failed attempts, has anyone else faced a problem like this? I want to see this games through, but I am not starting another character and I dont know I can get through this encounter with what I have.

This game needs patching... urgently.

Try looting everything you can from the zombies then kill yourself, you might get lucky and find some ammo, if not just try melee weapons. I'm not sure if that will work though, I know when the person you're escorting dies it's game over, but when you die you just come back to life with full health, worth a try.

@gamb1t: When the NPC with a stick to defend himself agros the Butcher, the Thug and 4 other zombies it makes it next to impossible.

First of all, guns against zombies (specifically in Dead Island)? Whaddayathinkin....

Secondly, it sound like you need to man up and show those zombies whose boss.

well its a scary game so off the top, they are gunna force parts where you should run rather then fight. my step dad failed to do so in deadspace 2 cause well hes a scardy cat. you messed up and the game won

It is not inconceivable that I am not good enough at the game to make it past this part, as most of the advice I am getting is to be better, but I am wondering if any of you have played through the part I am talking about, or played the game at all.

Could try finding Coop partners. You may get lucky.

i beat it in 36.5 hours singleplayer, never had the problem u are. Probably because i never used guns against zombies. also i never got hit enough to use all my medkits. Problem is, you get hit to much. Start drop kicking before you swing your weapon. Also you have this for console. Thats where you messed up, cant control your character as easily. Its like playing L4D on xbox, you wont last long.

Get a co-op partner in there to carry you through. It still doesn't help though. This game's save system is absolute fucking trash, I lost my save after it crashed on me, and continued playing on in co-op with my friend.

About eight hours later I realized it hadn't saved any of this progress at all. Gee thanks Dead Island. I had to finish it while playing on my friends game. By the way, guns against zombies is completely viable as Purna. Would be totally cool if you could at least do some research before knocking the poor dude. But yeah, if there's anything around, use it.

@McShank: While escorting Koritoia Ope through the village and you are attacked by the butcher, thug, and around 7 other random zombies, how did you get through? I can usually take out all zombies except for the thug, who ends up killing the NPC.

Beside the good suggestion you made, bashing the console for no reason is kinda pointless, I doubt he'll go and buy a PC (if he does not one that can run it) or the game because you say that it's the mistake he made. Good rep job tho.

Who uses firearms against zombies? They are practically useless. You need a melee weapon in every slot.

Controller is vastly superior to m+k for this game, specifically with character movement.

Remember that a jump kick usually knocks down walkers and infected, especially if you're sprinting. Try getting them down then keeping them there with your boot while your escort whacks them with his stick, and you simultaneously bait and avoid the bigger zombie units. It's all about crowd management. Also like others said, run around and get loot while getting yourself killed. It'll refill your life and let you keep found weapons. Skip the guns for this part.

Already posted about it in another thread, but had the same issue with an escort quest eating up all my weapons as I play Logan (thrown weapons disappear on load). I've resorted to regularly copying my save onto a backup just in-case something like that happens again.

Ah that part. :D I was using xian so i was chopping limbs off everything, I also had Old Smokey on my machete at the time which helped me stun things as i went in crazy. The thug i think hit ope like 2-3 times before i had killed the zombies and the butcher which i had used my rage attack and killed him in 2 hits once everything was done. I think the thing that helped the most was probably my mods since half the zombies were dancing around with electricity after i hit them once. After you get past that part just wait till you have to go back to the boat. you dont get to kill things, more like you get to kick them on the ground and run away till they catch up again.

I just got up to the bit you're talking about and holy shit. I must of tried it 20 times, and everytime it loads back up the health of the weapons has deteriorated, aswell as my supples from the previous turn. Luckly I came across a glitch and it reloaded me back at the resort?. My plan now is to stock up on Molotov Cocktails, and when I get back there i'm going to throw 2 at the zombies furthest away and hopefully even the playing field abit.

I'll probly level up more first though incase the game doesn't gltich out again. But man that guy you're escorting lasts about 5 seconds. For some reason he takes it upon himself to go full force at the horde of zombies wielding nothing more that a little knife, barely gives me a chance to hit them before he falls to the ground and the game restarts.

@CrimsonNoir: I did, then it crashed, and then we had no idea who did. I joined them as they were playing on my session I guess, and we were on the same mission.

@david3cm: I agree with you, that escort mission is messed up, don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.

It isn't a problem if you have coop friends with you, but the only way to get past it in singleplayer, is to die enough times to build rage and then unleash it and take out the most powerful zombies before they get to stick wielding guy. I agree it's a bummer.
