It is my Game of the year, but everyone seems to forget how good it was of just that it even came out.
I hope Brad makes a strong case for it as it was an amazing game, I hate to see great things get ignored.

It's not being ignored, just forgotten. Remember, it came out in January and a lot of people forget about all the earlier games once Fall comes.
Edit: You also forgot the space in between Dead and Space.
I was thinking about DS2 last night and every time I thought of something amazing that happened in it I was reminded of something else and ended up with a long list of reasons why it is easily one of the best games of the year. The games biggest problem is that it ditched a lot of the creepy atmosphere for cheap jumps and only ever comes close when you return to the Ishimura... and then five minutes later you're back to blasting the shit out of everything.
That bit where you get chased down the hallway and end up fighting the monster in space is one of the most awesome moments in any game I have ever played.
I still vote on Skyrim in terms of GoTY, but man I do love Dead Space 2. Personally I had a better experience with Dead Space 2 than Portal 2 as far as sequels are concerned. This is even considering the fact that it's hardly much of a horror game anymore as the setpieces are simply fantastically executed in my opinion. Also "PEW PEW PEW!".

I am sure they will choose an adequate game for GOTY.
I can hear the snow under their daedric boots already.
Dead Space 2 is probably my GOTY or my number 2. It's between that or Mortal Kombat. I played through the entire story mode as soon as I could. The way it just went from cut scene to fight, the anticipation of who I'd be playing as next and the oh shit moments that were either from the old MK games or how they diverted from them was just incredible for me. On top of that it's a fun fighter with a laundry list of modes.
Oh believe me sir it will be sitting rather high on my personal list for this year but yeah I don't see it as a big GOTY contender.
@big_jon: Not if you attach it to the forums and only type two sentences. Also, it says "Blog Post" in parentheses when it's a blog post, so it's not a blog post.
They will cover the games they feel the need to cover. Literally earlier today I saw the exact same thread in reference to ilomilo, only the actual content of the first post was "January 5TH." I don't want to see this exact format all month.
@big_jon: I'm not banning you or anything, I'm requesting that people not make these threads. If your argument for "it's okay" was "it's a blog post", then I'm pointing out that it's not a blog post. If your argument for "it's okay" is "I made my point," by all means you did, but please don't do it again. I'm going to treat everyone who does the same just as shitty as you, as these threads cropping up on December 4th is already annoying and I really don't want it to continue until the first GOTY podcast.
This is a poor way to forum for two weeks straight, maybe longer.

Mass Effect 2 does not agree with you.
Hardcore mode kind of made me hate that game so yeeeeeeeaaaaahhhh
You have a point there but I'm sure it was because people were still playing ME2 when Fall came!
It didn't resonate with me the way the first game did. Though, in it's defense, I only played it for 3-4 hours. With that said, it mainly just felt like more of the same to me.
I am totally with you. Skyrim is still my number 1 since it is so unique in its nonlinearity, but Dead Space 2 is probably a close second tied with Portal 2. It made me play a genre (survival horror or horror in general) I usually never play.
The harcore trophy haunts me. Something I will attempt after my thesis.
I felt like the pacing was a little incongruous at times, but generally speaking, the game is solid fun.
The only thing I liked about Dead Space 2 was the story, the BEAUTIFUL lighting and how Isaac was pretty cool this time around.
What I didn't like about Dead Space 2, was how completely non-scary it was. Once you figure out that EVERY SINGLE TIME you see a Necromorph, there's one behind you, the surprise is gone.
That said, I still can't believe this game came out this year.
@papadopus: Please don't necro 9-year-old threads.
