The release date got 'Aug'-mented after all... (sorry... horrible pun)

Unfortunately the reports are that the new release date is Aug 23rd 2016.

But if we pre-order do we still get 4 DAYS EARLY access?

Interesting how this, Mirror's Edge and Far Cry Primal all had the same release date and now only Far Cry remains. I wouldn't be surprised to see FC delayed as well.

What's left in February? Gravity Rush re-release and ?

Now it's even more hilarious they were trying to offer a "4 Days Early" release date for their preorder thing.

Exactly what happened to HR, was scheduled for March(?) And pushed to August.

Didn't know this had a date already, thought it was slated for fall 2016 or something.

nope - the date was 23rd Feb so we're getting this exactly seven months later than their original planned release date.

The Last Days of Old Earth has just been announced and sounds like it could be good (assuming the Feb release date is a full release and not just early access?)

A 7 month delay? Something must have gone wrong.

Eh no complaints for me. More time hopefully means it's a better game. And it's near my birthday so I can make an excuse to buy it.

If any complaints, I wish it was earlier since the Summer is dead usually.

Quite a number of games getting these lengthy delays. A good sign of gamers getting finished/working games for once, kind like how it used to be, and should be. =P

Kinda glad this got pushed. I've got a pretty good backlog and wanted to get a replay of Human Revolution in before the next one came out.

Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 is all that matters in Febuary anyways. ;)

That's fine. That's two months beyween Dragon's Dogma and Dark Souls 3 in which I can play other things. Ah, the glory of having a backlog, you are never lacking for something to play.

I expect the reason behind this delay is because they tried to run it on current gen consoles with their current build, only to realize they were getting 5-10 fps at every instance. So now they're probably going to have to redo the entire in-engine pipeline just so the game runs on consoles at 20 fps by getting rid of graphical features that, sadly, a modern low end machine with a 750 graphics card could even handle.

It happened with Watchdogs and The Witcher 3. They delayed those games a crap ton of months in the future and they turned out... very different from what they were initially shown. Since the current visual fidelity and art direction for this game is way too good to be true for these consoles, I expect some serious optimization methods to happen that given 6 months span of time.

But hopefully I'm wrong. Maybe the game was buggy as hell or they made design decisions they began regretting. Thing is, I highly doubt that, considering what happened to other triple-A titles as of late.

I'm totally cool with any games not named Dark Souls 3, Street Fighter V, Persona 5, or Tekken 7 getting delayed. I need time to catch up to 2015.

Good more time for me to actully play the first one.

@fnrslvr: yeah this is one of those games that I absolutely want the developer to do the very best they are allowed to do before the spreadsheet-driven shot callers demand that the game ships... (even if I'd also like to have the game as soon as possible!)

It also occurred to me that, having listened to some of the dev commentary on a stealth run of HR, some cool stuff got cut from HR that I would've appreciated seeing in the final game. I mean, sure, stuff gets cut from just about every game, but a 6 month delay might be the difference between something good being cut and making it in nevertheless, especially considering that 6 months is probably time where they can open up the game for further content production, and not revisiting cut content could leave content creators idle while the game is being polished by the engineers or whatever.

But I'm just speculating, of course.

Also, I'm not really too surprised about this. Deus Ex seems like it would be a pretty ambitious game. I was expecting at least one delay. Hopefully this doesn't go the way of Persona 5...
