The BlizzCon Wrap-Up: New Diablo Class, Cataclysm Preload, And More
" @Vorbis said:"Aslong as I'm here, they are the prey and I am the hunter"" It's like they looked at Sylvanus and ported her into D3. Honestly, the trailer probably had some of the most cheesy dialogue in history. I'll stick to the Witch Doctor. "Really? Some of the most cheesy dialog in history? Really? "
You didn't groan at that? So cliché, like something out of a Xena episode.
The Demon Hunter animated intro definitely looks good though seeing them put a pvp arena system in D3 is something I could care less about. In D3 I want to mow through any monster thing that looks funny in my general direction & as it's a co-op game I don't want to see how one class stacks up against another because we are all up against a horde of monsters so as long as the other classes are effective at their share of stuff pvp is useless to me.
Yeah, I think Diablo 3 will fail in the narrative department. I bet I will be rolling my eyes every 2 hours... at least the gameplay will be a lot of fun. But if the game costs as much as SC2 I won't be buying it. Here in Bulgaria the standard edition of SC2 is $85. This is BULLSHIT!
If it wasn't for the music I would have thought it was a Dragon Age trailer (in the cut-secene part of course).
Demon Hunter looks good. Now I want to play every class..... great. This game will steal all my time. I think I will still start with the monk along with probably everyone else lol. Barb is my classic favorite though so its hard to say no to him. Anyways, I have plenty of time to think about it hehe.
So for D3, we've got 2 casters, 2 melee, and 1 ranged. I totally called that.
But trading in Amazon for Demon Hunter is a nice surprise, and I wasn't expecting them leaving out the Paladin for an Assassin type (monk).
Witch Doctor is just a re-invisioned Necromancer though, which is disappointing. I'm guessing they did that because Necromancers are evil in this story.
" I'm not sure I like the idea of D3 having PVP. That probably means Blizzard is going to get all pissy about people modding their single-player, non-competitive experience. I like playing hacked up games with community created skins, levels, quests, UI's and items, but if people can take what they've earned in the campaign into a PVP fight that means those mods will be severely restricted if allowed at all. Why can't I be allowed to just play the single-player game by myself the way I want to play it and not have the threat of Blizzard getting all medieval on my account? "Closed battle.net?
Diablo 2 had PvP.
It will. I said it a long time ago... Look at what they are doing with the control scheme. Diablo 3 will be on the consoles too. Mark my word...

said:Do you mean digital copy? Yes, I can but it's like $5 cheaper... and btw I don't care for SC2 but I'm interested in D3." @phrosnite: can't u get the virtual copy? "
" Can Diablo III please come to consoles?!??! "No.
Stuff like this makes me want to start playing WoW again, even though I didn't like it the first time I tried it.
" I hope they aren't expected to charge for the SC2 maps. Monotizing Battle Net seems like a bad idea "These maps they have shown are all going to be free for all Battle.net users. Also, with Blizzard DOTA, during the SC2 custom maps panel, the guy behind this particular map insisted that Blizzard would continually update the map for balance as well as adding new heroes/items etc.
Now in the future they plan on having a marketplace for premium maps made by the community and these maps will (allegedly) undergo a rigorous process to be determined if they are eligible for marketplace - most of these maps will have to have a high amount of polish, customization and custom graphics, etc... these will be games/maps/mods where the map designer has basically made their whole own game. Kind of like how people use the Cry Engine or Unreal Engine to make their own games - that is how Blizzard has described the marketplace.
To me it is a 2 sided coin. On one hand it is great that indie developers get another avenue for making some money doing something they love and gives incentive to making high quality maps. On the other side of the coin - a lot of these maps will be gambles since you have to pay to play. A map description alone and some youtube videos that were edited to entice you to buy, may not be enough information to commit to a map. Then again, we don't know the pricing structure or anything for maps so it could be just a buck or two...
" Demon hunter? Which doctor? FAN OF KNIVES??! Very creative, blizzy! Oh wait... I wonder when are we going to see complete blizz integration. I bet the new mmo they're amking is called "Word of Warcraft AND Starcraft, too.. Diablo also, btw™" "Awww, does someone need a bridge to live under?

" @NoK said:But this one specialize in the hunting of demons. " I'm kind of disappointed that there was nothing about their unrevealed MMO. It was pretty obvious that the last Diablo class had to be the ranged weapon class, so not much surprise there. Not really a whole lot in the way of news. Kind of an underwhelming Blizzcon really. Can't wait for Diablo III though. "in one of the panels it was revealed that 50 people are working on the prototype stage. That's about it.
Calling it now. Diablo 3 @ fall 2011. Twenty Eleven.
" @NoK said:The demon hunter is half demon, think about it.. I don't think the other classes are half demon, even though they all hunt demons." @shinluis said:It is pretty odd that one class in Diablo III should be called "demon hunter". Ya I "get it". I do agree kind Sir. But while they take their time, I'm busy giving all my money away to the likes of "Bioware" (DA2 will be out soon) and noob company "Runic Games" (Torchlight 2). Both whom consistently release "Polished" products in a timely fashion.
But whatever ... this years Blizzcon was mega huge (as always). Bobby Kotick must be creaming his pants daily. ugh
i really really really hope D3 comes out mid-2011, anything BUT a 2012 release.
on the other hand, i'm excited about DH, going to be the first class i play :)
"Bioware" and "polished" in the same sentence. LOL @ that. I think The Witcher would like to have a word with Bioware." @jozzy:

Also, are you really putting Torchlight in the same league as Diablo II and / or Diablo III? Torchlight was a cheap little diversion and was priced accordingly. I think I played like two or three hours of it before sticking my cat at the controls and he beat the rest of the game. Yes, it is polished, but that's like pointing out that PopCap puts out polished games faster than Blizzard.
Yes, it is polished, but that's like pointing out that PopCap puts out polished games faster than Blizzard. "They do .. I've bought Plants VS Zombies 6 times now. I wasn't saying Torchlight could hold a candle to Diablo. I just thought for the time it took them to develop and release it, is impressive, no?. Blizzcon is such a waste, $150 tickets to look at 3 games? But I guess when those 3 games print cash ... you can just sit back and enjoy the nice weather. BTW, Dragon Age and ME2 were very polished imo. :p
