I'm pretty sure it's generally a freak accident when Dave does a review. They try to keep Jeff, Brad, Ryan, and now Alex, as the main reviews editors. Jeff was going to do the Battlefield 3 review, but there were some ridiculous publisher shenanigans where they didn't give reviewers advance copies of the PC version or something, and Jeff had some kind of press event he had to go to right around the time he was going to get access to the PC version, so he just said fuck it and had Dave write it.

I don't know the circumstances surrounding Dave reviewing Gran Turismo 5 or Dragon Age: Origins, but I imagine it was a similar situation of Jeff, Brad, and Ryan being stretched too thin so they asked Dave to write the review. He's basically the backup, overflow review writer, to only be used in case of emergencies.

May isn't a very busy game release month, so I would be absolutely astounded if Dave ended up writing the D3 review.

Hrm. As has been observed, Max Payne 3's release date is also May 15th. So whomever gets that won't get D3, ya? Kasavin reviewed both MP1 and MP2 back at Gamespot, so the Giant Bomb reviewer isn't obvious. If I had to guess, it would be Jeff or Ryan. And if can't be Brad for lack of franchise context, then it's Ryan, Jeff, or Dave.

I also think Brad but im guessing that all reviews for D3 are going to trickle out slowly after release right? Considering its only online and the games servers wont be live until launch press will get it when we do. Unless they start the servers early but that seems unlikely.

Also its more likely to be brad because Max Payne also comes out that week which i see Jeff or Ryan reviewing.

I wonder if Blizzard made reviews obsolete by using the Open Beta. Everybody already knows it's awesome.

I think it has to be Brad since he loved torchlight more than anyone else and has the most affinity towards past diablo games.

I feel like Jeff would get bored of it quickly because he just likes to immediately find whatever works best and keep doing that. Add that to an already repetitive style of game and.. 3 Stars. Brad: 4-5 Stars.

I don't think D2 really matters... that was like 10 years ago. They are going to compare the game to modern RPG's. If D2 came last yr I could understand that the need to know the second one, but since its not its completely uneccesary. I don't need to play Elder of scrolls 2 to know if Skyrim is any good.

Well from the Quicklook it didn't sound like any of them actually had much of a clue of the Diablo titles, one of them played Diablo 2 but didn't really recall much.

But that doesn't really matter too much.

However, whoever it is that's going to review the game, AT LEAST GO THROUGH THE STORY.

Or even more lazy go through all the kickass cinematics ;P

Blizzard doesn't even need to pay special attention to reviews. No exclusive reviews or other shit.

The reviewers can start playing the game on release as every other human being and tell those who're interest about there opinion. Just as with Starcraft 2.

And sure, some "misguided" haters think the game will be bad, but of course it won't be. Oh well, that vocal minority won't change their opinion after reviews or so either. And the forums are going to be filled with stupid crap a la "PoE and Torchlight 2 are so much better and the skill system is bad and the graphics they suck and [...]".

However the great thing about that, I for one won't have the urge to argue with these, well, morons any longer. I'll just enjoy the hack out of the game.
