A public testing period is, or has been, offered for the general public prior to sale or general availability. Access is generally granted through giveaways, preorders, or crowd-funding rewards.
Puzzles may need to be solved before the player can progress to the next section of the game. Often it may not be clear to players exactly what the puzzle is, or whether the an in-game items needs to be attained before it is even possible to solve it.

An audio signal that contains noise at the same level at all frequencies. Appears on TV screens and video transmissions as static "snow".
