I'm sure alot of people haven't heard about Double Dragon Neon. Its a downloadable game that's coming out this Tuesday. Me personally I don't know what to think about this remake. The game looks dated, the animations are stiff and the combat looks sluggish. But if this game gets a decent reception I might check it out. It might turnout to be alot more fun then it looks.

Are You Buying The Double Dragon Remake?

No, I don't think so. Everything I've seen has lead me to believe it will be horrible.
Yep and its coming out in a couple of days.
I love beat 'em ups but this game looks awful to me. The graphics, gameplay, everything. Can't believe its Way Forward. A lot of people are excited for it too. I don't get it.
I was going to, but now I don't have to. Yay PS+
The game looks like it'll be fun to play, but hooboy that aesthetic. Ironically it's being added to PS+ the same day as Scott Pilgrim, which is a game that looks (and sounds) gorgeous, but is a chore to play until you grind out all your moves (bit of trivia, the devs didn't want to have unlocking moves in the game, but Ubi mandated an XP system, so they had to add it in).
Looks like shit. Just give me Double Dragon 2 so I can steal my partner's health/lives/whatever the fuck it was we did.
Here's a vid if people want to know alittle history of Double Dragon. Btw...1:29 that kick looks ridiculous.

Nah. Double Dragon already has a long history of awful console ports and I highly doubt this one is going to buck that trend.
I have River City Ransom and Double Dragon 2 on VC, Final Fight and Scott Pilgrim on Xbox, and Streets of Rage Remix on PC to scratch that brawler itch. Like the OP said, I think the animations and movement look sluggish, but DD has always been that way. The visuals and gameplay don't look bad to me and definitely have that retro 80s vibe.
I'm surprise that the old-school DD fans are so excited for it. If I was a long time fan, I would have been expecting better for the remake.
Here's a review of Double Dragon Neon.
http://www.joystiq.com/2012/09/10/double-dragon-neon-review/
Double Dragon Neon is a fantastic game, one that's carried on a simple premise: it's fun to punch stuff. Admittedly the activity could get stale over time, but that concern is alleviated here through diversity, namely a stable of consistently different enemies waiting to jump in and challenge Jimmy and Billy. Meanwhile the pursuit of upgrading tapes to customize attributes and special attacks keeps Double Dragon Neon from being a button-mashing bore.
That's what the reviewer thought about the game overall. Still I need to see a few more reviews. In order for me to decide if buying this game will be worth it.
I'll try the demo thats for sure. It looks like complete shit, however the Joystiq review said even with its crappy art style and animations its still a very fun game.
I'll try the demo first aswell. If it somehow turnout to be alot fun. Then I might go ahead and buy it.

Normally, no, but as already stated it'll be available for free to Playstation Plus subscribers, so why not? Maybe outside of the visual style they'll capture the spirit of the original double dragon and it'll prove to be a hidden gem.
Nothing to lose but a little time.
True, its worth a try.
Its sad that the little easter egg game in The Warrior's is probably more fun than this game will be, and that was just a small bonus for beating the game.
And yet the XBLA Warriors game that came out that tried to flesh out that idea turned out to be utter shit.
Seriously, just release the gameboy advance version of Double Dragon, add in some new stuff, and you'll make more money than this remake could ever get.

It is pretty sad. But then again the game could be worth while and surprise everyone. But tomorrow we all will find out how this game will do.
@falserelic: I think it's retailing for $15(?) so if the demo does appeal to you, you may be better off getting three months of Playstation Plus, sure you'll lose access to the game in three months, but it'll only take a few hours to see all it has to offer, then you get to mess around with all of the other free games when you have time to kill.
I was at Pax East and was meaning to check that game out. As a big Double Dragon fan, it seems like a no-brainer for me, but I do want to see some reviews first.
No unless the brothers are voiced by Scott Wolf and that Asian guy from that 90s smash hit, Double Dragon movie.
My gut screams hell no which i'm sure will result in me passing on it. Everything I've seen from the game looks terrible and the neon 80s style does not really work besides maybe the music. It seems like they doubled down on the new ninja turtle downloadable game art style and made it look worse and play worse.
The arcade beat'em up I've always been weary of since dropping money on X-men and TMNT: Turtles in Time since they forgot what made these arcade beat-em great, losing your quarters. Max continues and no challenges literally broke this genre for me cause you can easily beat these game in less than 45 minutes. Two games which did a pretty decent job to fix this was the Scott Pilgrim game by having a set number of continues while also allowing you to level up your character giving you a reason to keep on playing after you lost. I also thought the downloadable Final Fight: Double Impact game was pretty decent cause of the in game challenges it gave players. Well heard this game is free on PSN Plus so definitely going to give this a try, making me not regret buying plus as this along with the Simpsons Arcade are two beat'em up I didn't have to shell any cash for.
I had bought Final Fight: Double Impact months ago. I was hoping it came with the whole trilogy. Instead we got the original Final Fight and Magic Sword.
Well the review for Game Informer came in, its got a 8.25
- Concept:This is not a remake of the classic Double Dragon arcade game. It’s an all-new take with several references to the series and other classic brawlers
- Graphics:he hand-drawn look blends with polygonal character models to great effect. I only wish the Abobos’ heads were a little more oversized
- Sound:The amazing soundtrack touches on practically every ‘80s genre and reimagines several Double Dragon classics
- Playability:I miss knee and elbow grapple attacks, but the mixtape system adds a new level of combat variety
- Entertainment:You can tell Neon was created with love for the original games. While brief, the campaign is brimming with nostalgia and laugh-out-loud moments
- Replay:Moderate
This is the second positive review. Also the game is about 2 hours plus long.
