anything that keeps the consumer fat, dumb and barely awake. what a bunch of horseshit.

EA Sports is a publishing label used by Electronic Arts for all of its sports titles. EA Sports currently publishes franchises such as Madden NFL, FIFA Soccer, NBA Live and the NHL games.
EA Sports Announces That You Can Totally Give Them 25 Bucks, If You Feel Like it
EA Sports is probably counting on the fact that consumers gullible enough to buy into this won't purchase more than one or two of those discounted games, and thus the publisher won't lose money on it.
Oh Man!! Is it everything going to be on subscription only in our future?(Games, Movie, Transports, Healthcare....)
EA Sports' made their last MLB game in 2005, and the MLB has prohibited them from making another game with their logo stamped on the cover until next year.I am pretty sure that 2k still owns the rights to professional baseball. I am not sure when the last time was that EA had a baseball game
Besides, MLB The Show dominates baseball video games if they make MVP Baseball 12 I doubt it will sell well.
EA, this sort of sucks. Not shocked at you attempting such a move though.
Gonna say it right here, this will fail.
All joking aside, is there any specific reason, why publishers always go to Gamestop with some excklusive BS?
I get that GS is an important business partner, but it's also THE source for used games which, according to EA, are killing the gaming industry. So on the one hand, they try everything they can to prevent you from buying used games, but on the other hand they lure people to the biggest provider of such games.
Here's an idea EA, how about you lower the price of your annual sports games to $40. I have friends who will only buy the games every other year, they just can't justify spending all that money for a game that only changes mildly from year to year (they also only buy NHL, and have no interest in Soccer, Football, Golf). If the price was lower, then people who really enjoy the sports games but don't wanna fork out all that money each year might be swayed to buy it annually with a lower retail price.
Now, I'm assuming I'm not the only person out there who knows of and also personally only plays 1 of the sports games EA offers each year; that being said... no way in a million years would I give EA an extra $25 just to play the new NHL early, just to pay full retail price afterwards (that's like a $90 annual commitment...for a sports game).
I adore the Season Pass for DLC idea, though I prefer Rockstar's (L.A. Noir) and Warner Bros. (Mortal Kombat) take on it.
Hopefully there will be such a thing for Battlefield 3. Pay 30-50$ in advance, get all of BF3's DLC 'for free'. A kind of 'fire and forget - worry free DLC' deal.
That'd be a hoot! I'm serious.
I must be missing something here.
So $25 lets you play all those games as digital downloads?
I don't think the value proposition is very good, but most of the bitching in here is just because a game company offered a new product that wasn't free. People complained about downloadable games being 10 dollars and then 15, people complain that any DLC whatsoever isn't free, I'm sure in 1978 people complained that Ataritapes cost money (I already shelled out for the box and now I have to pay for the games?!).
I never understand bitching though. Especially for things people don't want. If you never wanted it in the first place, then would it matter if it was a thousand dollars? If you did want it, but not for that price, then you don't buy it until it reaches a value you're comfortable paying for. And if you do want it and that price is acceptable, then I guess you're buying it.
I notice no one is talking about the quality of the content, or anything, just that they had the audacity to create an optional transaction. Little sopping pussies, "fuck you EA for offering a consumer product!" It's going to start happening to games too, "there better not be a new Dead Space game that costs 60 dollars!"

This seems like hubris to the max. Why does a company that owns a MONOPOLY ON FOOTBALL GAMES think that people play their games because they love them so much? They don't really have a choice in the matter.
Yeah. I don't even play sports titles and this has always bothered me.
Alex, keep rolling out these hilariously worded articles. They're much appreciated.
I havn't bought an EA game since Tiger Woods 2007 . And that smug cunt ain't encouraging me to change that any time soon
