Overview

Electronic Super Joy II, by Michael Todd Games/Two and Thirty Software, is a 2D "masocore" platformer that contains over 50 levels and various power-ups that the player can acquire to enhance their traversal abilities.

In each level, the player must make it to the end via a series of checkpoints while avoiding pits, spikes, missiles, wandering and stationary enemies, or being forced off-screen by the auto-scrolling camera. There are also a number of collectibles to find, from gold coins to puppies.

Power-Ups

  • Double-Jump: Allows the player to jump in mid-air once after leaving the ground.
  • Triple-Jump: Allows the player to jump in mid-air twice after leaving the ground.
  • Quintuple-Jump: Allows the player to jump in mid-air four times after leaving the ground.
  • Explosive Jump: If an enemy is in range of a mid-air jump, it is destroyed and the player can jump again. With enough enemies in range, they can keep jumping indefinitely.
  • Butt Stomp: Allows the player to deliver a drop attack that kills most enemies, besides spiked ones. The stomp will also cause the player to fall immediately straight down.
  • Sword Attack: Allows the player to instantaneously whizz across the screen horizontally until they hit a wall or an enemy. Can be used multiple times in a row, but has a slight cooldown.
