I don't want to set the world on fire....

Story: Fallout 3 takes place roughly 200 years in an alternative future hat broke off form ours around 1960..
The short story is that there was a huge global war between China and the US resulting in everything and everybody getting nuked.. You are born ( part of the game even :) ) in an underground vault and one day you find your father missing, turns out he had a spat with the Vault leader and he have left the vault and you find yourself hunted so you have no choice than to leave it too.. You exit the vault and are from that point completely free to do what ever you want in the world.. want to find your father go ahead, want to forget the dude and go settle in town living off scrap collecting do that - the world is completely open to you, just be careful not to piss off the wrong people :) People familiar with Oblivion will find this game very simular, it has the same huge open world and quest system, but unlike Oblivion this has even more freedom and your choices can have huge consequences, so make then wisely! Gameplay: As mentioned above this is very much like Oblivion - 1st person with a unrecomendable 3rd person option, close up combat ( although you'll mainly use guns in Fallout 3 ) and a ton of people to meet, help or kill.. The guns can be used like in a 1st person shooter, but it is not recommendable because you are the lucky owner of the VATS targeting system that allows you to pause, aim on specific body parts and see the dudes getting wacked in lovely slowmotion - it's briliant! :) Other than the killing part you have a ton of quests to do, these are usually very typical RPG stuff, go there, help those, collect this, find that and so on.. Some of the quests are more interesting than others, but the great open world makes even the most simple enjoyable and challeging! Pros: Fallout does a great job in capturing the mood and looks of a nuked world - I find myself walking everywhere talking my sweet time to soak it all in, it's fantastic! The VATS targeting system is also a blast to use and it's so satisfying to see the dude who just attacked you get his head blown to pieces in glosious slow motion as he rightfully deserved The voice work is great and so is the facial animations and the graphics for the most parts and the huge selection of guns and stuff as well as the humour makes it an amazing experience for all who likes RPGs with a realistic touch.. And for the first time in a game there really isn't no right or wrongs in this game.. Many games have claimed this before but this ones does it for real.. you are free to be the meanest *ss and kill every living soul you meet or you can help them - neither way will stop you or punish you, but your actions will have great consequences even if not immediately clear. Cons: There really isn't much to complain about here.. The graphics could be better and the textures sharper, but it's really not an issue and while playing it as a 1st person shooter doesn't work well it's not the way it's supposed to be played either so hard for me to bitch over that.. It would kinda have been nice to know what areas are dangerous for you to enter with your current level, but again that would also be a shame as I personally had some of the best times sneaking into new areas not knowing what to expect.. ( getting jumped by a super mutant with an RPG at level 5 and surviving = better than sex! :D ) So all in all what flaws there is in the game are all very easy to forgive as everything else is so great! What people however should be aware of is that this is NOT a shooter and you can't play it as such - it is a role playing game and if you don't want to play it as such or try to live yourself into the world then this game isn't for you and you will be able to find a lot of cons! Overall: It can easily be summoned up in one word: GREAT! It really does so much right and presents to with an awesome world and univers and let you handle the rest.. There are plenty of rough edges but unless you dislike the RPG style you'll never notice it.. I can only strongly recommend everyone who liked RPGs like Oblivion or the original Fallout games to get it - it's probable the best role playing game I've personally have played ever! Great! My trek through the Capital Wasteland. 0

After Oblivion, Bethesda’s 2006 hit, the expectations were extremely high for Fallout 3 and the game doesn’t disappoint. Although some fanatics of the original Fallouts may not fully appreciate the move from top-down fully turn-based to a hybrid of the latter and first person shooter , fans of previous Bethesda games will recognise the core movement, navigation and little secrets they have added. In fact there are a huge amount of similarities between this and Oblivion, although instead of wande...

Fallout 3 is flawed fun 0

Fallout 3 is a big, big game. And when a game has such a quantity of content, glitches, both tiny and big, are pretty much unavoidable.  Therefore, this new Fallout, that really doesn't have a whole lot in common with the previous ones aside from the theme, is riddled with glitches. However, if you are willing to look past those mistakes, you'll find a deep and expansive game, that has plenty of great moments and lots of things to see and find. It's a wastelandFallout 3 is set in the post-apocaly...
