    My friend just texted me, saying that she just bought New Vegas on Steam and it's downloading right now.  I'm curious if the game has already been released on Steam or not, as I haven't seen anyone talking about it at all.

    @jakob187: As far as I know when you pre-load games it means you download the whole thing and then you can't play until it actually unlocks at like noon on the day of release.

    I preordered limited off Wal-mart and apparently they ship it out on tuesday, so I probably won't get it till the end of the week. 
    Yet their site also says I'll get it by release...so Idk when i'm getting it. hella excited though.

    @jakob187: I just did the same thing. By 'Pre-purchasing' games on Steam, you can install the full game, but you won't be able to play it until the second it is released.

    Can't pick up the limited edition in stores, and I hated Amazon's preorder bonuses. Least useful of the lot, IMO.

    Wait...WHAT?!  Seriously, they aren't offering the limited edition in stores without pre-orders?!  There's no way that Bethesda would be so lame as to not do that.  They did it with the limited editions on Fallout 3, and they made a slaying.  Shit, the only copies of the game they HAD at my Wal-Mart on the midnight launch of Fallout 3 were lunchbox editions!

    I think they are, you just can't preorder or some shit. I tried Best buy and gamestop, and neither were allowing in-store pickup with the limited edition preorder. Which sucks, because apparently Best buy is also giving you some sweet ass fallout-themed coasters.

    @DystopiaX: nah just standard. as cool as the LE was, ive spent untold amounts of money ordering every game i want through dragon age 2....and i just couldnt justify the extra money

    I figure I don't really want anything else for the rest of the year (although Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is looking a lot better than I thought it would...maybe christmas?) and I love watching making of DVDs, so I figured I'd get it. I'm a big Fallout fan anyway, so why not? 
    OT, but thoughts of the rest of the year reminded me that star wars: The force unleashed II is coming out soon, yet with no hype. Seems strange especially since the first was billed as just as big as a star wars movie (with the novels and everything)- is LucasArts just throwing this game under a bus cause it sucks?

    I live in the UK, and luckily most large chain video-games stores over here don't ask for a deposit on a pre-order. 
    Plus they offer free postage nationwide.

    There are quite a few games that are difficult or impossible to mod on Steam installs due to Steam encrypting the .exe.
