Feminists unhappy with Fat Princess
"Shouldn't she be happy? It means you can be fat and still be a princess...
"
Hahaha.
If I were the developers of this game, I would love these dumb feminists bashing my game. Free publicity.
"I'm all for women rights and all but....You don't have to be female to be a feminist, and if your "all for women's rights" you are a feminist...
Those feminists are insane
"

"
Not exactly...
"I hope that fat bitch goes to tell after dying from a twinkie
People like this get on my nerves
"
That's a little harsh... actually really harsh.

Bahaha! So so true.
"Maybe they want something pleasantly in the middle, chucklehead."
There is if you open your eyes enough to see it. Mirrors Edge for example? Not all games will have normal chicks in them, some will have hot ladies, some will be humorously cartoonish and have fat princess, its all varied.

Now THAT'S offensive."Realy, I don't see how. Your mind makes it offensive. In actuality I didn't say anything offensive.
Come on that's just a whole lot of bs, so it's okay that they have skinny big breasted women jumping around in DOAX but not a fat fucking princess in a violent cartooney game. Those feminist don't now their games, they just saw the tittle fat princess and totally freaked out for absoluty nothing. That's just so pathetic...
First of all how does this promote gender stereotypes? There are fat men and women. Everyone knows this. Also IMO its your own fault if your fat (unless you have a disorder with your thyroid or something) so don't whine about it. I bet you if it was a fat prince no one would care. Like I said thought its your own fault if your fat (again unless you have a disorder, and a real disorder not some over-eating BS) if theres anything I hate is fat people who blaim everything else except themselves for being fat and everyone has to adjust just for them.

Speaking as a particularly large individual myself, I must say...I don't think there's any "fat hating" in that game at all, and there's certainly nothing about it that is derogatory toward women. Stuff anyone with enough cake and they'll get fat...I'd know. ;)
If anything, it reinforces the value of a woman even if she's big. If the game hated on fat women, they wouldn't bother saving their princess after she got bloated, now would they?
i think fat hating is okay. anyone here actually like fat??? lol. i know fat people, theyre pretty cool, has nothing to do with them being fat at all, like jeff gerstmann. but surely, they do not like fat either.
Haha!... Haha!... Haha!... Haha!... Haha!...Haha!... Haha!... Haha!... Haha!... Haha!... (trying to impersonate Nelson from the simpsons movie)
The girl in the first post is very fat and very dumb.
"fat princess's are a completly untapped female archetype! i seriously belive that this is a step foreward, better then a slutty princess eh? i mean fat people in general are given bad names in videogames...
oh and fat prince wouldnt be the same....
"
Lmfao, wow.
I gotta note that people like her aren't feminist, this is just man hating. This person is obviously only looking after Number one and when she sees something that offends her she'll complain about it.I can't see any problem with it. The game is supposed to be satirical just by looking at this game I can tell its going to be filled with this kinda stuff. On the being fat thing its definitely not something to be proud of like she seems to be, I mean being mean about it shouldn't be good but being proud of it isn't really any better.

Lol, thats harsh... kinda. :P
FIrst of all, to anyone decrying Feminist, I have to wonder if there is a woman's voice among you. Simply put, Feminism is the reason you're allowed to have an opinion, period. If Feminism would just "shut up," we'd still be arrested for practicing birth control, gathering in a crowd of three or more without a male chaperone, or arranging for dowries based on our virginities. That being said, the truly ignorant fail to realize that the modern movement about Feminism isn't simply the quest to push women ahead; it's about equalizing the playing field for all sexes and genders.
Second, "Fat Princess" isn't offensive because it's features a fat woman. It isn't offensive because it features a princess. It's offensive because it features a woman whose only value is as a princess waiting to be saved by a prince, and to add insult to injury, she's fat simply for comedic value. Saving a princess is old hat for gamers ("Zelda," anyone?) so there needed to be an original hook. It reinforces the notion that not only are women helpless, but fat women are exceptionally so.
Imagine if, instead of "Fat Princess" (focusing on two demographics it's still acceptable to mock) the game creators had focused on using terms that were racially or religiously charged. No way would those titles fly off the shelf. Frankly, the ACLU would be the least of the manufacturers worries.
So many people have come out and snarked, "It's just a game. Get over it, people!" But how long have gamers lobbied to be recognized as legitimate individuals, every bit as talented as the athletes, academics and other walks of life that people respect for their abilities? Long have we all been presented as sweatpants-clad geeks living in our parents' basement as we catch Simpsons reruns. Girl-gamers especially have struggled for recognition, and games like this just prove we have yet to come far at all.

That being said, the truly ignorant fail to realize that the modern movement about Feminism isn't simply the quest to push women ahead; it's about equalizing the playing field for all sexes and genders."I've been thinking about this lately. And, I think if it wasn't for blacks fighting for black rights then women would still be on the bench. The blacks did what the women didn't have the proverbial "balls" to do. Once the women saw it was possible to obtain equality by standing together, they decided to copy the black movement.
The irony is that they have obtained equality. Now they want to be accepted as more than equals. They want equal pay for unequal work. Most female basketball players (WNBA) aren't nearly as athletic as their male counterparts (NBA). Pit any NBA team against any WNBA team and the men will likely slaughter the women. However, we're some how sexist for paying the better athletes more.
Men and women are different both physically and mentally, it makes sense that there are going to be things that men do better than women and visa-versa. However, femisits expect us to take a blind-eye to this truth. In addition, there are many more men with careers than women with careers. So, it makes sense that more men would hold high-dollar jobs than women. It's simple numbers. Many women choose to take the traditional role of housewife over career woman and it has nothing to do with them being unequal, lesser, or inferior to men in the work force.
It reinforces the notion that not only are women helpless, but fat women are exceptionally so.It also features men donning armor and killing each other. Are we to believe that it reinforces the notion that men should go out and kill each other? The violence in the game breeds violence in ourselves. This is very comparable analogy to your trail of logic. The truth is saving a princess is a common plot device. In reality it doesn't matter whether it's a princess, prince, queen or king. A captured individual generally is helpless. The princess is essentially a hostage being forced to eat. If the game were about feeding her PCP so that she freaks out and flails around making her just as difficult to "capture" and return, it probably wouldn't have been a blip on the feminist radar. (PCP Princess has a nice ring to it.)
Imagine if, instead of "Fat Princess" (focusing on two demographics it's still acceptable to mock) the game creators had focused on using terms that were racially or religiously charged. No way would those titles fly off the shelf. Frankly, the ACLU would be the least of the manufacturers worries. You mean like the sheer volume of games that have you killing Nazis? What about the games that have you killing Middle-Eastern terrorists? How about the games that have you killing the Veitcong or Chinese? These games could be contrued as being racially and religiously charged. But, most of the time you hear nothing about that. If game developers went politically correct we'd be stuck with games set entirely in science fiction or fantasy settings where it's OK to slaughter fictional races. Nevermind if these up-in-arms types realized the drow were the evil "black elves". And what are "dwarves", "halflings", and "gnomes" but a representation of "little people".
Girl-gamers especially have struggled for recognition, and games like this just prove we have yet to come far at all."And we laugh every time we're presented that way in movies. Grandma's Boy was a somewhat funny take on our geekdom. You didn't see gamers banging the drum that we're being portrayed unfairly. That the movie is reinforcing the notion we're socially inept geeks.
The truth is the people screaming about Fat Princess are simply angry individuals. They want to share their misery with everyone and will find any target to do so. This is no different from the racist cries of Resident Evil 5. The game is set in a country made up primarily of black individuals and they're turned into zombies. It's racist to kill black zombies, but you can kill white zombies and hispanic zombies (RE4). No, let's all wipe anything that could potentially be offensive to anyone from the world.
