    Final Fantasy II follows four heroes who join a resistance group and try to stop an empire from taking over the world. Its gameplay deviates greatly from the first game by utilizing a usage-based growth system.

    I changed this from what was there (1988) to be the correct US release date, which was April 8, 2003 for the Playstation as part of the compilation Final Fantasy Origins. (Source) Check the right side of the page in releases. If we want to be really technical the true US Release date would be July 24, 2007 (Source) Check the right side of the page in releases.

    Feel free to debate the release date.
