I remember there being news about there being trophy-based themes in the Japanese release. 
 
Are they still in the English release, and does 360 have a similar thing (I'd presume they're absent in the 360 version, however)?

PS3 trophy based themes? as in you get a theme for the XMB when you get a specific trophy?  
 
i think the 360 version has gamer pics that you can unlock, but i've heard nothing else.

Yeah they are still in the International release, still haven't unlocked any yet though

Black Guy = Get 100 or something successful scans with Libera.
Shibuya Girl = Beat the Game?
Emo Hope = Beat the Game
Female Cloud = Finish all hunts with 5 Stars
Chick in Sari = I forget
Wanna Be Hero = I have it but forget...
Female Cloud's Sister = Get that fancy platnium
 
I have Shibuya Girl as my theme and kinda wanna get Female Cloud but it's becoming a pain in the ass for a certain mission during the Trials of Titan.  >.>
