    Stamina Meters are Trash

This is the first game I have ever played with a stamina meter and I hope it bombs terribly because if stamina meters get introduced into other games it will be the single worst development in video game history.

Why any video game company would not only limit the amount of time you can play their game but also punishingly increase the amount of stamina required to play later levels (50 maps per stamina bar at level 1 but less than 5 maps at the highest levels) is a total affront to video games as a source of entertainment. At least in Clash Royale you can still play but earn little to no rewards.

Frankly Nintendo should be ashamed of themselves, and even though I have "Dan" levels of enthusiasm for their past franchises, if they continue producing games like this I will be perfectly happy with their products being confined to the trash bins of history.

Fire Emblem Heroes is a fun "filler" type game. If you're a fan of the FE series and have a favorite set of characters, Fire Emblem is a nice diversion as you try to collect those individual pieces. However, this game doesn't hit above a 3-star rating for me as the story is pretty shallow and the time-gating starts hitting extremely early in the play process. It's definitely recommended if you're looking to dump a few hours, but does not appear to be a long term commitment....

Unlike Super Mario Run, which opted for a one time purchase price, Heroes adopts the gacha model popular in Japan in games like Puzzle and Dragons. The basic mechanics of the Fire Emblem series make the transition smoothly but with smaller maps that fit nicely onto a phone screen and low unit counts which keeps match times south of 10 minutes. The bite size conflicts are great for gaming on the go but the g...
