Forced Slow Walking last edited by Aruru-san on 03/18/21 07:04PM View full history OverviewThis concept was arguably made famous by Gears of War, where the protagonist, Marcus Fenix, slows his walk when he talks on his headset. Prior to Gears of War, it was featured in other games, such as Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, in which player character Carl Johnson cannot run nor jump while using his mobile phone. The concept was carried over into Grand Theft Auto IV, in which it was used in the same manner. Even further back in the late 1980s, Hydlide 3 and its remake Super Hydlide prevented the player character from running when carrying too much equipment in his inventory. The concept of the slow walk has now become a common concept in games.
