I like the 5 mini-casts, but the main debate for Game Of The Year should be like '08. Here are our favorite games, GO.
A small request for the GOTY 2010 Bombcast.
I liked the '08 model better, I mean the categories were better imo, but either way is fine by me. '09 started really akward but became really great by the end of the first hour until the very end.
This year will be insane.
Everyone of you that thinks ME2 wins, remember that Brad loves SC2.
I liked 09's approach more. While the discussion was not always "Is this GOTY?", it also made the guys pay tribute to some games they loved, but had major issues and therefore no way it was going to win. I guess Comic Jumper will be one this year
" This year will be insane. Everyone of you that thinks ME2 wins, remember that Brad loves SC2 "This. Both the RDR versus ME2 and Starcraft versus ME2 debates should be epic.
Back to the OP's topic, I personally prefer the console specific debates leading up to the Granddaddy of it all, if only because it gives time for the guys to say their piece about games that are near and dear to their hearts without having to find someway to shoe-horn them into some mega Top Ten list. For example, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories would not have made the Top Ten games of last year I don't suspect, especially seeing how at the time Brad was the only one that had played it. But (at least for me), it was worth talking about and created a really fascinating moment of when they had to decide to go with the sequel to the game that defined the Wii or a bold new direction. In a way, I saw the format of last years deliberation episode as a great way to give a very broad scope view of what all the games of that year were, even if the actual final "winner" of some of those console categories were really simple to pin down.
In short, I like the GB dudes talking about as many games as possible, and while I can see and appreciate the focus of just talking about the agreed upon top ten, there are also so many also-rans worth remembering at least for a few moments, that I find the retrospective approach much more satisfying.
What @JoxxOr said, which is similar to my post but like 100x better.
The build up is key, it's fun to hear them break down each console category and deconstruct each game that makes the top spot. In fact it's led me to try out some games because of it. For some odd reason I had no interest in Uncharted 2 but after hearing them talk about it so much in the PS3 and overall GOTY category it convinced me to buy the game. I'm a much better human because of it.
Can I come? I just moved thousands of miles away from my friends and family and I can't afford to fly back. I'll bring the hot coco! Or eggnog." @Abyssfull said:
" @AndrewB said:Fuck yeah! If only... "" Give me 24 hours of game talk to listen to. Christmas may be a lonely, lonely holiday for me this year. "Come to my place, we'll go bowling!!! "
Look, I'll just bring booze, okay?
Anyway, what a weird GOTY list I've got going on in my head. ME2 felt like a lock, and RDR was awesome, but I think I like Super Meat Boy and Pac-Man CEDX more than either.
I much prefered the 09 GOYT podcasts because they drew my attention to some great games of the past year that I'd forgotten about.
That was of more use to me than arguing about which of the 10 incredible games were the best.
Well since they do "Best 2007 game of 2008" and "Best 2008 game of 2009" there should be a "Best 1999 Game of 2010" category featuring Super SFIV, NBA Jam, Pac Man DX, Goldeneye Wii, Hot Pursuit, DK Country Returns, Star Craft 2, and maybe Duke Nukem Forever as an honorable mention, whose mere potential release at this point is equal to any normal games' actually release.
I definitely preferred the 09 one because they pointed out so many incredible games that I either did play, or was now planning to. The daily small ones were also great since I got to wake up to a bombcast every day for about a week.

I think you're forgetting that Mass Effect has space hamsters.
