Jeff mentioned that it was driving him insane that people thought he was into something something concert. This came up after the I Am A Wizard And This Shit Is Fucked Up bit. The thing I keep hearing is Jeremy Kay? What am I missing?
I could not figure out what concert Jeff was talking about

Jeremy Kay? Hahaha! You need to go study up on some 90's music. But you did a good job making out the name a bit.
I'm a wizard, but this is fucked up. You should find out who Jamiroquai is now. Hell, you already know.
Man, 90's music are the worst. The 90's in general is the shithole of human culture. Was it Ryan or Alex who said something of this effect? Something along the line of the 90's being devoid of culture. Whoever it was, he was right.
" @Abyssfull said:Putting Dynasty Warriors anywhere near Demon's Souls would frankly make me gag." You know what I couldn't figure out? Comparing Demon's Souls controls to Deadly Premonition - WUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT "Both are middling games that if you like them you love them and if you don't you hate them. I'd also throw Dynasty Warriors in there. "
As for Demon's Souls and Deadly Premonition being middling. It makes perfect sense for Deadly Premonition which is the definition of a 'love it/hate it' crowd - a cult icon, but Demon's Souls has gained a strong following and was well received from a great number of publications. I like (love) both games, but comparing anything between those two is fucking insane.

(It's Jason Kay, by the way)
At the height of their powers (circa Space Cowboy for me), they could be amazing. Then, instead of doing funk they slipped into a big pile of disco; in my eyes (ears, whatever) they've never really regained their footing apart from the odd good single here 'n' there. I'm assured by friends that the latest album is great, but Return of the Space Cowboy was more than great for me.

Just because good music wasn't exactly popular at the time doesn't mean it wasn't there.
It's rare to find good music nowadays that isn't somehow influenced by the truly great music of eras past.
Eras like the 90s
" Jeremy Kay? Hahaha! You need to go study up on some 90's music. But you did a good job making out the name a bit.Oh ok.
"
I know who Jamiroquai are but I forgot they did Virtual Insanity. Although I'm pretty bad about remembering names of songs and who wrote them in general.
If you look deep enough into any of those media you will find things you like, especially in the 90s." @thedj93: The only good thing to have come out of the 90s was Nirvana. Everything else can choke on my turds. I'm not singling out music; everything about the 90s, video games notwithstanding. Television, clothes, fads. Everything. It was awful. AWFUL. "
It's kind of part of a thing that started in the late eighties, where a more "indie"* or "alternative"* type of entertainment was possible because mid-range consumers provided the market where indie filmmakers, musicians, and game designers could be successful. However, since all of these things were not that popular to the mainstream, they are not very influential, which is probably why you missed out on them.
Also, I can almost guarantee that Ryan Davis enjoys games from the nineties, since it was during that time that he decided he would make his profession one about games.

" @Malakhii: Wrong, todays stuff is mostly bad, with some good. The 90's sucks entirely. Nothing good came from the 90's. The 90's can crawl into a hole and die. PLease. Seriously. "Well agree to disagree, bands like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, The Black Crowes, Counting Crowes, Tool and Radiohead all pushed through in the 90's and are to this day some of my favorites. Plus you have great rap acts hitting their peak like Nas, Dr. Dre, The Wu-Tang clan, The Fugees, Cyprus Hill, Biggie Smalls and hell even Tupac. If you don't like LITERALLY anything to come out of the 90's more power to you, but I think it had it's share of great material.

You're forgetting about all kinds of stuff, outside of what was already listed lets look at twin peaks, and pavement as two stellar examples of good things from the 90's." @Malakhii: Wrong, todays stuff is mostly bad, with some good. Edit: aww hell let's throw in a few more. Sparklehorse, the flaming lips, of montreal, the mountain goats.
All of this, except I'm not agreeing to disagree - Pibo47's is a half-informed opinion at best, plain and simple. Every song of Faith No More's Angel Dust agrees with me." @Pibo47 said:

As a point of reference, Deadly Premonition, it turns out, is the definition of middling.
The whole meme is hilarious, but when Jeff made the "VIRTUALLY INSANE" reference, I couldnt stop laughing.. it was a genius touch.. lol
Ahaa I remember Virtual Insanity. From like a 90's mix CD. Remember those? They'd have like 10-15 popular songs of that year. Fuckin' mix CDs were how I tried to discover new music before the internet was good for that.
Those CDs were totally weird, especially when the producer makes all the songs mash together.

Totally wrong.
Media in the 90s was generally great.
Music, all that has been mentioned, plus Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Slayer, Metallica, 90% of 90s hiphop was great (Souls of Mischief, Del, De La Soul, Outkast, Pharcyde, Tribe Called Quest, Atmosphere, etc), not to mention gangster rap, some great stuff from Iron Maiden,
For movies I'll submit: Schindlers List, Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Boyz in the Hood, Menace II Society, Boogie Nights, The Usual Suspects, American Beauty, Casino, Goodfellahs, Apollo 13, Fight Club, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Silence of the Lambs,
For TV, I'll submit: The Simpsons, The X Files, Futurama, Family Guy, South Park, Sienfeld, News Radio, Kids in the Hall, SNL had a great lineup, Roseanne, Married With Children,
The 90s laid the groundwork for most of todays culture. Most of the stuff we see today is completely dirivitive of what started in the 90s. Hell, dance music was invented in the 90s.
Hell of a decade!
