DEBATE: Is Claude Speed also the silent protagonist of GTA III?

Should we tag this page to Grand Theft Auto III? There's plenty of evidence that suggests that the Claude Speed of GTA2 is also the guy you control in GTA III, but nothing conclusive.

If it's not explicitly stated anywhere that it's the same guy, I want to say no. But if it's understood and accepted in the community that This Is How it Is, then yes.

Well the guy that looked EXACTLY like him in San Andreas was also named Claude, so I would say yes. Wouldn't stake my life on it though.

If you want him to Jeff, it will be so. Because you - Jeff - are the man, of all men. If you want my opinion, well... i really don't care. I just want you to know, that YOU are the Freakin man! And if you want the dude in GTA2, to be the dude in GTA3, well then, so be it!

Also he should be listed as the protagonist of GTA 2 - I was all over checking out the credits in the GTA 2 manual back in the day

lol I just made that contrubution. The thing is, in San Andreas Claude is also there as Catalina's boyfriend (who betrays you in GTA3). On the phone she calls CJ and call you Claude. Then she says something about dialling a wrong number.

I always assumed it was the same guy. Technically, that should be enough of a confirmation.

I'd say most likely, on lots of the other game sites (and wikipedia) they list him as Claude. You can still get his outfit in GTA IV which is pretty rad.

I'm pretty sure it is. in GTA:SA catalina runs off to liberty city with a mute named claude and catalina is the one who betrays you at the start of gta3

San Andreas does make it sound as his name is Claude, but Claude Speed?
Also, that would be weird, because GTA 2 and 3 seem to take place in different universes.

I say no! More than one person can have the name Claude! Just because they're both silent, car-jacking, murdering, gang working, mob mocking Claudes, does NOT make them the same person.

He is the same guy, it's a known fact, it's even mentioned in San Andreas that he's claude, plus he dresses the same and doesn't speak. Also, you have to remember this is rockstar, and they love throwing in little jokes for fans of there previous games, he'd just be a big one lol.

(oh, also the fact that in SA the girl that he ends up being with instead of her being with C.J is the same girl who betrays him at the beginning of three, plus they say there off to liberty city)

In GTA IV you can unlock a Claude Speed outfit, which looks exactly like that of the character you play as in GTA III.

Eh, I'm not sure if Claude Speed from GTA2 and Claude from GTA3 and SA are the same, but... Claude from GTA3 and SA is the same guy.
 
I think that Claude in GTA2 would be too old to work out, you know (action in GTA2 happens in 2013 as far I know)... so it must be definetly another character (Claude Speed).
 
Oh, and if it feel messy for you - just don't mistake Claude with Claude Speed. :P
