So yeah, I was at school and I was looking over the MW2 wiki page and all in information is gone. The only thing left is the words Morden Warfare 2 and its hyperlinked to a porn image. If there is any way to retreive the data from how it used to be and figure out who did this please do so. Pic is NSFW.

It's a lot of data gone on an important page.

Hmmm just read another topic about the info on the Persona 4 page being erased though it was recovered. Who is responsible for this? :/

What I wanna know is who would bother getting that many wiki points, and then just doing that. Seems like a waste of effort to me.

It's not hard to get to that point. Hell, the English Wikipedia has banned at least eleven administrators, because they did stuff that were obviously not appropriate. And yet they were trusted with those tools for years. It's not hard for an irresponsible person to be put in a position of power where responsibility is assumed. Especially when that power is obtained by amassing 1000 wiki points, which are infinitely easier to get than sysop permissions.

@LordAndrew: Well, wikipedia would be more tempting, if not just to screw with the lazy students who use it as their only resource.  But dicking around here is just... too dicky.

But still, that's pretty ridiculous, 11 admins, really? That's a pretty hefty position, I mean moderators, maybe but... yikes.

1000 wiki points may not be a lot, but the stuff does have to be approved and what not, which means they'd have to actually be useful for a 1000 points.

@XII_Sniper: Rogue administrators are dealt with pretty easily though. Users can be blocked and unblocked, edits can be reverted, and deleted pages can be undeleted. User contribution and log pages make this a trivial task. In some ways 1000-point editors are more powerful than administrators on a MediaWiki-powered site, and moderators are in every way; because page history and reversions aren't working and I'm not sure undeletions are even possible.

@LordAndrew:  Wow seriously? I feel bad for whoever's lost all their hard work. I think there are a few things on the site that need a bit of retooling, just for security purposes, really. Reversions would be one of them. I hope this won't be commonplace. And also, now that we're a bit older as a site, perhaps raising the 1000 point bar a bit, just to make sure we only giving proper diehards the keys to the wiki.

As tragic as all of this is, I hope Whiskey Media starts fixing the bugs and holes in their system.

We've managed to restore all the pages (that we know of) that had their content removed. We still don't know who did it though. The staff should be able to help us with that when they come online.

Either way, if you come across any more pages that have had their content removed like this - please contact us immediately.
